I agree that mostly it's the hypocrisy that I see run rampant in Christianity. They are supposed to love and forgive people but far too often it's very judgemental and scornful of others. I've also noticed they love to pick and choose between which teachings of the bible they will follow and not follow.
The other aspect I have a problem isn't just with Christianity but happens in many religions. The belief that it is their religion and their religion only that is true and must be followed. That if you believe anything else, even a different form of Christianity, you are condemned. To me that is arrogant and egotistical. It can also be down right rude when they feel the need to try and convert or "save" others. Let everyone believe what they want and worry about your own faith. There can be many truths and we need to allow everyone the right to choose their own path.

Christianity isn't hypocritical, it's the people who identify themselves as such, but who still haven't learned to live God's way. You can't judge Christianity by the people who AREN'T practicing it. That just doesn't make sense.

I'm a christian and I think that it's so sad that people connects christianity with hypocrisy and judgemental attidudes. I can't understand why people do it but it's so sad because that has nothing to do with christianity.
Jesus was so angry with the pharisees and he called them hypocrats. Jesus didn't judge anyone. When the jews asked what to do with the woman that had been caught in adultery he said:
"The one that is without sin should throw the first stone"

That's so true, David_B. I am a Christian too and it saddens me to see how we look to others. Not every Christian is judgmental, though. I just hope and pray that those who see us that way will come across some who are truly humble the way Jesus showed us we should be.

Hypocrisy is what offends me too. Especially when you see the clergy talk about peace and yet you see them blessing soldiers and their weapons on either side. You can especially see this during the II World War. I've even seen pictures of it. Another thing is how they talk about the Bible, but never use it and don't apply it.

As a Christian, I think it's sad that hypocrisy is so rampant. A lot of people claim to be Christians, and then they're judgmental and they even do things that a Christian shouldn't do. This gives people who are trying to be good Christians a bad name, especially for people who see only hypocrites, and then we have to try to undo the damage done. It's very frustrating, to say the least.

Hello, I'm a Christian and it hurts to hear that you are offended by hypocracy. I don't believe I am holier than thou at all. I am just a common, ordinary sinner--I'm not any better than anybody else! But I have accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior, invited Him into my life, asked for forgiveness of my sins and accepted his Grace and free gift of salvation and eternal life--that makes me very happy!
