im fond of looking at my own reflection in a mirror. but i find it scary to even glance in a mirror or anything that may reflect my image if its in the middle of the night, lights out or lights up. it gives me the creeps. it makes my imagination run wild like if i look at it even for about only 10 seconds, something scary might show up. its insane but that's how i feel. ^__^;; sometimes, even if i just stare at my own eyes/face for more than a minute at any time of the time, it feels as if my face changes into someone. and it makes me frightened and look away from me. ^__^;; do u think this is ridiculous?

Whoa, I never heard of "nightmirrorphobia" before! lol Hmmmm, maybe you have a tormented or restless soul my friend. Who knows, perhaps you have another soul trying to be seen or heard.

How long have you felt this way about looking into mirrors or reflective items at night? Are you happy with your life at the moment, personal and professional? ‹(°¿°)›

i dont know when it started. i think about this seldom anyway and i dont really have time to stare at myself in the mirror for a long time. ^__^ if i say im happy with my life right now, in general, i'd be lying big time. ^__^;; i know im not satisfied with my life and there had been many times when i feel kinda, not kinda, but really bored! ^__^;;

well its not actually a phobia. ^__^;; i dont want to think that its another soul or maybe another part of me, coz when i stare at my face for a very long time, eye to eye, it really changes into a menacing look. now i dont want to have another "me" with that kind of look! ^.^

Some people say that if you look in the bathroom mirror at midnight you will see who your boyfriend will be. A variation of that for older girls was that they would see who they were going to marry. A scary version says that if you stare in the mirror at midnight you will see the devil. And yet another legend has to do with Bloody Mary. It said that at midnight if you said Bloody Mary 3 times while looking in the mirror you would see her and all kinds of bad things could happen to you. None of these legends have been proven and are stories passed down from generation to generation.

i've heard that legends. the first two are also popular here in our country though i dont believe on that. the one with bloody mary is scary! i've only heard of that recently from an episode of supernaturals when they had to stop something menacing concerning ghosts from mirrors. i wouldnt dare call bloody mary!

if you think you're ridiculous, how about me? am i insane? it gives me goosebumps, even to attempt to look at myself in comfort room mirrors. same with your imaginaiton that something scary might show up, or my face would turn into a devil, and he would talk to me, and laugh so mean...eww..i don't like it. to tell you the truth, i dont put decorations with faces in my room. coz at night, i feel like all those pictures are staring at me. so now secret bear, do you think you're ridiculous?

ok... im not ridiculous anymore. only a bit. ^__^;; and you're more ridiculous than me! hehe.. reminds me of an urban legend where someone went to the cr in the middle of the night and when he saw his reflection in the mirror, a devil suddenly appeared before him. he recited a prayer to thwart the devil away but guess what.. the devil prayed with him!

No. In fact I had similar experiences of my own. I imagine like my face is metamorphosing and becoming...like a monster. It's scary for sure. Especially if you try it in a dark room lit only by a candle.

my imagination too run wild in the middle of the night. that is why I do not have a mirror in my room. the mirrors are in the bathroom and in the sala. I do not even watch my self in the mirror once I take a leak in the middle of the night. mirrors are useful. they are used to watch ourselves as we look at our happy or tired faces. I make faces in the mirror too. I do not look myself in the mirror because I think crazy things in my mind, and something scary might show up in the mirror. have you been like this ever since? have you really seen monsters reflect in your mirror? sometimes reflections from objects or trees begin to make crazy reflections in our mind.

no. thank goodness i havent seen any monsters in our mirror when i look at it. if it did it would probably give me a trauma. ^__^;; i like looking at mirrors and see my reflection but usually during DAYTIME or maybe at night if the lights are on. but if its dark, no thanks. i'd rather look like a witch with a messy hair than look at the mirror and be scared. LOL do you know the story about the student who saw a d-e-vil in the dorm's mirror? the story says the student started praying the Our Father but the d-emon only prayed along with him. ^__^;;

of course. ^__^ but if the d_e_vil is a fallen angel will it be thwarted by a prayer to the Lord who used to be the d-e-vil's former master?

that is one scary story. but indeed demons do know God. as I think they are fallen angels. but they do not believe in Christ. but of course in those situations we could do nothing but pray.

Not at all, but frankly i dont usually have compelling reasons to check myself in the mirror in the night unless i got a serious accident on my face and in that case i dont even get scared at all looking at myself!

I do not like looking at myself in the middle of the night. It is not that it is scary or anything. It is that I am not sure whether I am awake or dreaming. In most cases, I am dreaming and I see a different me, either a younger me or an older me with my hair completely white. Then I look around and see that even my house is different, it is much better looking, there are more rooms, a really big kitchen -- I do dream big don't I? I am too tired to star at the mirror otherwise. I just go to the washroom, finish what I am doing, and am back to bed.

well dreams are supposed to be bigger than reality so that's understandable. i even dream big things too like im in the air flying, or i'm in a place i haven't been to and there's too much that i get to see. ^__^ i guess if i dream of myself looking at the mirror and seeing a different person, i'd be scared too like in real life. ^__^;;

Your imagination is indeed going wild. I guess probably is that you've watched many horror movies on mirror scenes. I do have such imagination as well but it's not about my reflection turning into gross devil. My imagination is such that there is a ghost passing by behind me. It is indeed creepy at times.

I haven't had enough of horror movies. LOL I would continue watching them even if it makes my imagination run wild. ^__^ I'm scared of ghosts too! they are just so creepy. even if we know they couldn't really hurt us, I mean, their mere existence is very creepy!

Yes I find very scary indeed. So I dont do it specially at midnight and I am only the one who's awake. I got scared of the thought of seeing other image other than my self when I check the mirror at midnight. Or that someone unknown to me might pass while viewing myself in the mirror. Also when I sleep at my grandparents house, I make sure that mirrors are covered if the mirror is facing the bed. While watching TV, This person who are experts about this stuff, says that if you are sleeping and your bed is facing the mirror, chances are your spirit or soul can use the mirror to travel in another dimension. That is the reason why people sometimes they dream of flying and seeing their own body lying in bed.

dang! is that true?? coz i have dreamt before that i was looking at myself sleeping! or dreaming that i was dreaming in my dream! i just can't remember if during that times i was sleeping in front of a mirror. and i often dream of myself flying! i will check if my bed is facing any mirror in my room. i dont think using a mirror to travel different dimensions is safe. i mean, is that even possible? and if its possible, will there be any danger that the soul would not be able to go back??? scary.

Sometimes, when I have to go to the bathroom past midnight, I avoid looking at the bathroom mirror. I have an active imagination and I just can't stop thinking that maybe something will be staring back at me!yaiks! Especially when I saw the movie, "The Ring". Lol! I totally avoided looking at a mirror at night, thinking that Sadako with her pretty eye, looking straight at me.

I don't find it scary if the lights are on. But if the lights are out, I try to avoid looking at the mirror even if it's right in front of me. I'm afraid I might see something/someone behind me, like in horror movies. hehe

Actually I never tried to look into the mirror at the midnight. I read too many horror fiction or ghost stories which told looking into the mirror in midnight is very dangerous. As you see, I don't believe them, but I'm also not brave enough. Of course, I look into the mirror at night before going to bed. But I never think too much. In addition, sometimes mirror is special thing in Chinese tradition and it is a important factor in many ghost stories. Hei,secretbear, I think you're so brave.

LOL i love reading horror fiction and ghost stories too. and i love hearing ghost stories. usually it only takes a night or a day for me to forget about it and freak out with it. LOL but it passes and even if i remember them, i wouldn't be that freaked out. ^__^;;

Most mornings I am scared to see myself in the mirror! What a beast! hhahahaha! Honestly, I used to do stuff like that when I was younger with friends. We used to turn the lights out in the bathroom and say Bloody Mary 3 times and the image of Marie Antoinette was so supposed to be visible in the mirror with her bloody head. It never happened, but it was so scary to try! We had a lot of fun.

tOinkz! hehehehe.... :p I can only look at the mirror before I go to sleep, when I have to apply moisturizer and you know, girLy stuffs. tehehehe! :p I don't feel creepy when looking at the mirror in the middle of the night - I am more scared going downstairs from my room to get some water at the kitched, and the lights are all out. Eeeeehh! hehehe... And anyway, we are just the ones who scare ourselves. LOL... Blame it to our wild imagination! Grrrr! :p Take care, secretbear and God bless!

I do some girly stuff too at night. but with the lights on! and that would be eraly in the evening. ^__^ and unlike you, most of he time, I'm not scared to go downstairs and have a glass of water or go to the toilet even if the lights are off. however, I am scared to pass by our full-length mirror before our stairs coz its dark in that area. LOL and I would begin to imagine what sort of scary things I would see if I look at it. ^__^;; so I hurry up when I pass by it, just to be safe. yeah, its our wild imagination's fault. but we wouldn't be able to imagine anything if we are not fed with scary stuff right? ^__^
