'To God be the glory.' For no matter what we do, and no matter what we may excel at, everything has been accomplished and done because God made it possible for us to have done and achieved it. Once we are down and feeling low, we will always remember that God is all and everything and this will perk us up.

I agree with you whole heartedly. For without him we are nothing but with him we are something in him.

Well, I used to have the usual 'mottos' before. But I watched an anime title once and I remembered a line one of the characters said.. "Being too kind is cruel.." - I have been living my life with this in mind for quite sometime.

I learned the express trust the process, when I was training to be a counsellor. So many times I am impatience for something to happen and I have to remind myself to trust the process, it will happen in time.

Yes I do. Never Give Up. I say this motto because i was in a hospitail bed for a month due to a medication i was given to take for ms. It paralized me and i was told I was wheel chair bound. It took me a week or two but I was not going to give up and I am still not going to give up. That was 5 years ago. I use a cain but I'm not in a wheel chair and I pray everyday that I will never be in one.

There are two that kind of go together, the ideals of this one were taught to me by both my grandmothers and my mother it was jut not put into these words until a teacher I was ten did, after giving us an assigment that would illustrate her point. I was ten. Different does not mean right, Different does not mean wrong, Different means different. Since we were always taught to learn the differences of others and accept people for who they were I felt lucky because growing up I got to meet people from different backgrounds with out having an understanding of what prejudice was, unfortunately you can not live in the world without learning of this concept of prejudice, the questions is do you embrace it, or accept that different is not wrong, just different. Then another concept we were raised with as best as possible, hard to do for anyone, but you can at least try. Was that of the Cherokee which is There is no right, there is no wrong, there are lessons learned. It doesn't accuse or blame, it is about taking responsiblity for the lessons we need to learn aka our mistakes, and moving on from that point, not with placing blame or making accusations, so that you don't feel so defensive, instead of feeling defensive, you can be more tolerante of the mistakes or "wrongs" of others as long as they to are taking responsiblity for the lessons they also need to learn and going from there. Both ideals are good ones, and not always easy to live by because we are conditioned by society and in many instances upbringing, to place blame, find fault. To often people will need to be right and make others wrong, in order to feel good about themselves. Sometimes you need to agree to disagree. Also we were taught not to be mean, or say things about others, because you never know when it might be you that people are going to end up talking about. So those are the ideals that I try to live by.

I suppose the three I can think of are rather common... but none the less I think they are good mottos to live by. 1) the golden rule; Do unto others as you would have others do unto you. 2) Honesty is the Best Policy 3) Love the Lord thy God with thine whole heart, and with thy whole mind and with all thy strength, and thy neighbor as thyself.

Basically,I try to live by the rule of "do unto others as you wish them to do unto you".I try to treat every person as an individual and respect them for who they are,not who others think they are.

My personal motto to help me get through the days especially the difficult ones is 'one day at a time'. I suffered from severe depression due to things that happened to me in my childhood right through my twenties and was warded in psychiatric hospitals countless times. After a struggle of more than 10 years to get out of the pits I finally saw light at the end of the tunnel. Sometime after that I realized that I shouldn't be worrying so much about the future after having wasted so much of my life being sick. But it wasn't easy to stop worrying and I wanted to just put the past behind me and start living. At that point in time, I was without savings, without a home, and I took on a job which I never in my life dreamed I would end up doing. So I kept reminding myself to just take one day at a time and not worry about what the future holds for me. I just do my best to live each day the best I can and even if I suffer setbacks and feel down at times, this motto has helped me to move on.

My motto is "What doesn't kill me, will only make me stronger." That comes from having enormous health problems, which started at the age of 15. And I firmly believe it!

This is so strange, I started a discussion last night or rather 6 hours ago, on that same topic. Years ago when I was still young, I stumbled on a record (vinyl) of Les Krane, where he recited Max Ehrmann's Poem of Desiderata. It made such an impact on me, I memorized the words, and tried, and are still trying today to live up to at least one sentence in that poem everyday.

i have one favourite motto that is OPTIMAPANDES SUB TUTELA DEI It is in Latin, the Old Romans language and it can be translated like this... try to do your best and believe that God is there to help you... there is another motto I like repeating to myself and it is NIHIL DIFFICILE VOLENTI again it is in Latin ( I love Latin language!!) and it means.. there is nothing difficult if you want to do this!!!

I have always believed in the golden rule. Do unto others, as you would want them to do unto you. I live by that, but have not really seen it back to me.

Both of these I dont think are made up, but I like them all too well to know the difference. I dont follow them always but I try. The first is "BELIEVE IN YOURSELF" and this is powerful for me, for my parents have never really encouraged me my whole life. Just my sister and best friend. So most of my life I have had to learn to believe in my self. The second and actually should be most important (no order here of the two) is "TRUST GOD ALWAYS" which is hard since I dont always. But I try ever SO hard and try to not rely on my "feelings" as opposed to real things that I know. When life throws you lemons, you can either make lemonaid or let them hit you in the fact. Live and learn is a good one too. Ha. There are tons but I love those two best!

My motto in life is "When the going gets tough, the tough gets going." I have been inspired by this a lot of times in my life. Whenever I feel very low, I just think about this and get a new energy and touch wood I have been able to face all the lows and highs with equanimity and poise. Cheers! Ram

I would have to say that it is "today is the first day of the rest of your life." It has so much meaning to me. It means that every morning when you wake up, you have the opportunity to change the direction your life is going. Such and opportunity that more people should take advantage of because you only get one chance at life.. Make the most of it.
