Are you a shopaholic? Or do you know someone who is?

I have a friend that shops constantly. when she is stressed, happy, sad, upset, tired, hungry....yep, she shops
Her hubby doesn't even know how many credit cards they have. She has so much stuff it is scary. And she will say she has nothing to wear! I believe it is emotional and an addiction. What do you think & do you know spmeone like this too!

I am so like your friend and it upsets me that I can't spend so much. I just have to buy something, anything! I usually buy clothes, bags and I'm a sucker for shoes. When I don't have money to buy any of these I'll settle for anything I can afford at the moment like a girl magazine, a handkerchief a new hair accessory or something.
I guess you're right, it's an addiction. The first time I worked in a mall I never went home without carrying a shopping bag. I would always come up with something I have to buy or something I THINK I should buy.
Sometimes I can control it. But sometimes I can't. Going to the supermarket with a grocery list doesn't help either. But now, what I do is carry cash. No credit cards for me. And I don't bring all my cash. I leave the cash and my ATM cards at home. I just bring enough money and a little extra it case something comes up.

Hi and thank you for your honesty and at least you are aware of this and you are taking measures to help yourself not go overboard. I need to stay away from the malls myself. I know the temtation you are talking about. Thank you again for your candid answer

I forgot to add... Just this month I started to make a ledger where I write down my expenses EVERYday. I keep my receipts too. This helps me realize how much I'm spending on unnecessary stuff. Maybe this will help your friend :D
Thanks for the best response!

Oh mercy yes! I know a few people who are shopaholics. One lady loves to buy things on sale, whether she needs them or not. If she's going out to buy a new tablecloth, she won't just buy one, she'll buy several in one color and then one of each other color in the same pattern. What amazes me is that she has all of them still in the original wrappers in her closet, never opened years later. I agree, I think it's an emotional addiction, trying to fill up their hearts with temporary happiness.

I am a shopaholic. I can't resist the feeling of satisfaction and fulfillment after each time i went shopping. That is why i do not have credit cards and always pay cash.If i have credit cash then it will become a big problems for me.

I am not a shopaholic but I do have a friend that loves to shop. She is always bringing home a couple pairs of shoes and probably has more shoes than my townhouse community combined. She is addicted to shoe buying more than anything. She admits she needs to stop but she loves shoes more than anything it seems and rarely see her wearing any of her shoes.
