I like driving in nighttime so as to escape from the heat especially for long journey traveling in this megathermal climate country. The temperature during daytime is quite hot in tropical country. Do you ever drive in nighttime or at summer night? Have you ever experienced driving in rainy day or storming night? I’m curious to know how people drive in winter day/night. Is the road covered with thick snow?

I do not like driving in the winter months, especially if there is ice on the roads. I will drive in snow, but drive slower. I do not like driving at night. Especially at twilight.

I’m from tropical country and never experienced driving on ice or snow. I think it must be quite difficult to drive in snow as it might be very slippery. Am I right?
I do find difficult driving at twilight because of poor visibility.
Thanks for responding.:D

Hi dear little Athrun, I am glad that when come to driving we are in the same class. Both of us, though I am very much older, have the common interest to enjoy driving in the night. I had the glass of my car tinned a couple years ago, so I don’t feel so warm even to drive during severe sunny days anymore.

Personally I think that driving in the night is my best choice. Because in tropical country, driving in the day time is unbearable, due to the scorching heat and destructive UV rays. Besides, the strong light is harmful to our eyes, in long term. The only unfavarable thing about driving in the night is, the strong beam of the cars coming from opposite direction. It blur my eye sight sometimes, especially those who forgot to turn off their high-beam.
You need to chain your wheel when driving in the snow. It help your tyre grip on the icy surface and reduce sliding. There can't be snow on the road with heavy traffic, only ice compressed by the wheels and it's so slippery, and that's why we need to chain our wheels.

For a person who lives in tropical country, driving in the snow is unimaginable for me because I haven't got a chance to experience that at all. Although I had been living in the States for one year, but Oregon coincidently was having the warmest winter in 2002 and it didn't snow at all LoL. I know we need to attach chain to the car tyres while driving to avoid sliding. But I didn't even see slightest sign of snow and thus didn't bother to buy the chain from the store for my car.

Yeah, cheongyc, I had seen drivers attaching chains to the car tyres before driving when I visited a foreign country during winter vacation. I was on the way to a beautiful snowy mountain, Er Mei Shan. Later I had got to know that this was to avoid sliding when driving on the slippery iced road. It was really a nice experience for me. Hi dear, it is worthy to have vacation in different places and weathers. Of course we have to spend some time and money for this.

Yeah, it’s comparatively easier to drive in the tropical country than in the temperate country which may experience heavy snow that might endanger driving.
I do prefer to drive during night time as the night weather is cool and comfy. The worst experience is to drive in the heavy tropical storm which seems to make driving impossible.

I prefer driving during the daytime. I can drive at night but I prefer not to cos the light from the on coming vehicles can be quite distracting for me.

I absolutely can not drive at night. I am night blind or something but I can't see to drive at night. If I have to go somewhere I make sure I have plenty of time to get where I am going and back before it turns dark.

well i am happy that you created such a discussion.really i think driving in the day time is very comfortable. the lights dnt bother you. and you have the field of vision to the max. but when you drive at night you have to totally depend on the lights so you have a limited vision andalso when the lights comes on your eyes it can really get tough to drive and that too when maximum person keeps their light at upper beam. i think given a coice any day i will prefer drving at day time.

I prefer driving during the day because you can see better. Right now where I live in the US, the temperature is cold. During the summer it's hotter, so I like driving when it's past 6pm, when the temperature gets cooler. I don't like to drive during snowy days where it's very cold, there's sleet on the ground and I slid past off the road before. It was a scary experience. Now I avoid driving in in the snow. I have someone in my family drive for me. During rainy days, I drive slow.

The temperature in my country is quite high and I just can't imagine the cold day in your country for the time being. It will be quite inconvenient and unsafe for you to go out in snowy day for which I never have any experience. Good luck to you.

I prefer daytime driving. It is because I am short-sighted and can't see clearly during nightime! I have experienced driving during the heavy raining day with thunder storms! I really scared and try to chant hoping that it works for safety!I try to drive along the left hand side on the highway but I found that it was slipperly and quite dangerous! If I can drive in the winter time, I also choose daytime.

Good morning, dear lkbooi. To begin with, I am not a driver, but a passenger, as I do not have my own car. But I can see how hot it is to drive in summer, either in the daytime or night time because of the heat. It is the same here in the south of China. But in winter when the weather is so cold, we do not feel cold in the car or bus as the air-conditioner is always turned on. By the way, it is the same in summer when it is turned on. But it is either too hot or cold outside the car in summer and in winter respectively. It is very difficult and dangerous to drive on the snowy roads and there have been accidents this year during the month of February. Anyway, it is always a great deal to be careful while driving either night time or daytime. To be careful is the best policy. Good bye and I will have to go to class now. Have a good day.

Hi dear jisir, only the passenger is the person who could truly enjoy his journey. He doesn’t have to worry much about the traffic and visibility. In the meanwhile he could enjoy the air conditioner according to the state of weather. It is lucky and important to have a good and responsible bus driver to save guard the life and property of his passengers. I agree that we have to drive very cautiously on the snowy roads because of poor visibility and slippery roads as well. Happy posting and bye.

Here's the thing. I love to drive during the night for the same reasons you list. The problem is, I'm night blind. So, I suffer with daytime traffic. I love driving over the road at night on long trips. It's quieter and safer, if only I could see.
I drive both in heavy rains and in blinding snow. The most important thing is to stay aware of the people around you. You may be skilled in driving under any conditions, but not the people around you.
I have driven on roads covered with snow and barely able to see out my windshield. That's why I have a 4 wheel drive Jeep. It's not fuel efficient, but I know I'll never get stuck somewhere with noone to help me.

I prefer to drive during the day than at night as you can see things more clearly. The worst weather condition I've driven in is heavy snow that has turned into ice overnight. That is really dangerous because sometimes there is no grip on the tyres and it's very easy for the car to slide out of control. Torrential rain also presents difficult driving conditions as well as heavy fog because in both cases the visibility becomes reduced and makes driving dangerous.

Yep, many here prefer to drive during daytime and all of them complain that they couldn’t get clearer visibility in the dark. Oh! It’s really risky to drive on the slippery and snowy road. So far I haven’t had such thrilling driving experience as our country doesn’t have winter season. Anyhow I do experience quite often the torrential tropical rain here. I was told that people in London always encountered problem of driving in the dense fog.

I enjoy driving a lot, too. I especially enjoy driving at night. Yeah, night driving is the best activity, besides daytime. What would be really hard if we have to deal with driving in the snow as well as rain. Yeah, also driving in the sunlight is great. In clear weather at night when I drive I enjoy seeing the moon and stars. I rather enjoy the cloudless blue sky.

Really Jake, both my son and I do enjoy driving very much except my hubby. He rather prefers to be the passenger all the time. I have never felt bored to drive along the country road to see the beautiful natural landscapes. Hi dear, from yours words I know you are a natural lover as you know nowadays I could hardly find anyone likes you who still enjoying watching the moon and stars or cloudless blue sky while driving. While having my two hours or so driving, back to my hometown from my work place my young colleague gal and I like watching the forever changing clouds. Sometimes she even snatches photos of the cloud.
