SOme people think that we should not talk while eating whle some people are of the opinion that all the family discussions should be held in lunch and dinner times so that whole family can participate and interact.
Whats the practice at your end??
In my family no one is allowed to talk while eating!

That's a very gud question. I think, it should be done only in case when we r having the lunch/dinner with our family members.....that's it. If we r eating out wid our frends, then it's not gud.....that's a different thing, if u r having a chat on important things.....

A leisurely dinner is much better for us. As long as no talking with food in the mouth is done we converse freely. Only at times we are pretty silent when the food is especially good. I would be pretty 'bored' eating at your place. Would have to act accordingly since that is the way of your house. I am sorry for your situation though.

It is ok to talk while having dinner what they mean is not talking with a mouthfull of food. If that was the case then restaurants would be silent, which they are not. :)

I think you can discuss during lunch or dinner after you done chewing and swallowed the food.Everyitme you start chewing again you should remain silent.

I think it is fine - unless you are visiting Her Majesty. :P
As long as you try to finish chewing what it in your mouth before talking, it is ok. Hey, I have chats with friends all the time over meal. It would be so weird if you don't talk while eating - not to mention time wasting lol. ^^

At our place we do have discussions during lunch and dinner, but generally all of us concentrate on food and the discussions are restricted around the food. As a practice, we talk much less during lunch and dinner compared to a lot of other cultures where usually the dinner/lunch takes longer. An average lunch/dinner lasts hardly 15 minutes in our family, so you can see how much discussion is possible in this time.
Cheers!
