sometines being silent or not saying anything at all is more hurting than saying something.

yes thats a good example. when people ask us especially personal questions and we cant answer that is hurting as well. silent treatment is torturing.

you're right,i think i know what you mean.
for example:MY girl ask me if i love her,and i don't answer her,she may think that i dont love her,and she may get hurt because of my silent,my silence proves that i dont love her.

I know I called someone a waste of space recently, and once I thought about it more I felt horrible. I didn't even actually say it to her, thankfully, but to someone else about her. I'm usually a very nice person, and I rarely say things intentionally to hurt others, but in this case I was very upset.
I think saying someone is a "waste of space" is horrible because you're saying they don't have the right to even exist, and you wished they didn't. *shudders* I can't believe I said that.
My mother used to tell me "I wish I'd never had you" and that was pretty harsh.

I guess it basically depends on whom you are saying those words, when and how you say them. I mean, beautiful word could still hurt if you say it in a pretty sarcastic manner.
and there's another thing that hurts aside from words..the SILENCE... sometimes silence even hurt some more than the words could. It's really a case to case basis.

I can tolerate a handful of insulting words but not when they insult my family. Ill fight until the end if they are going to insult my family. But i think the most common words that hurts a persons feelings are im the one feeding you shame on you, you are nothing, zero IQ, idiot you dont know anything, liar..that i think can make a person feel miserable if thrown to her/him

"I DON'T LOVE YOU ANYMORE", "YOU ARE USELESS" "YOU ARE NOTHING BUT A FOOL" "I DON'T TRUST YOU AT ALL" "YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO EXIST IN THIS WORLD!" " YOU ARE UNLIKEABLE!" "You are a shame in the family!" "YOU NEVER HAD DONE ANY GOOD FOR ME". these are the words that are enough to make somebody miserable. Being silent when a person is expecting a positive response from you will also make him miserable.
