It’s a common practice in southern India for a man to marry his
elder sister’s daughter.
It must be looking strange to you all but yes it is.
In southern India, man can also marry even his mother's brother's daughter and vice versa..

Oh dear, I think that is very wrong and would be disgraced and sickened if I had to marry one of my uncles or cousins, but in my country it isn't common practice for these sort of things to happen and think it may even be illegal, but it is very interesting to hear about other countries and how they work.

No in south india, its not at all illegal..
I have seen many marriages in south india in this manner
People here believe that marrying someone from a known relationship lasts longer and happily without any problem
and the great thing this is, u never hear any case of divorces in such marriages..doesnt it look to be an healthy marriage??

It's interesting that the marriages last better than others, but i also had concerns about what lucy said in regards to unhealthy offspring. I will keep in mind that some countries do things differently and it's not my place to judge anyone.

ya u r true to ur point about unhealthy offspriings
I have seen many cases where offsprings mostly born are either physically handicap.
It mostly happens if these kinds of marriages are done among the same blood relations for more than twice from the immediate descendents, i mean
a couple got married in this way whose offsprings will also marry in the same wy to same blood relations
Anyways nowadays its been discouraged..
