Not all pregnant women have the courage to even just try on a bathing suit, especially when their tummy is growing pretty big. But with today's maternity swimwear getting practical and stylish, soon-to-be-mommies can now flaunt their tummies in beaches with the smart and sexy swim wear
of their choice.
I was pretty surprised when my friend sent me her photo taken on the beach with her hubby, and yeah she was wearing a two-piece swimsuit...and she was already 4-months pregnant on that.:P but still she looks beautiful as ever and the happiness on being a mom-to-be is clearly seen on her smiles.
what are your thoughts on this? would you still wear a swimsuit even if you're already pregnant and your tummy is pretty visible? I mean, until how old is your baby inside that you would allow yourself to wear this maternity bathing suits? are there not some health risks associated with wearing swimsuits on pregnant women?
do share your thoughts :P

I have a 3 year old in swimming lessons and and I am 5 months pregnant so a swimsuit is a must. I probable would wear a swimsuit right to the end as swimming is a great low impact exercise, and I am due in the summer when we can finally swim in the lakes. We have been on the prairies for several years and just moved home close to the lake. I will admit to a huge fear of water so it's not like I swim a lot anyway.

What risks could their be with wearing a swimsuit? Swimsuits are just like underwear! I love seeing pregnant women in swimsuits, but only if they were fit enough to wear the swimsuit when they weren't pregnant as well. If you are 300 pounds and didn't look good in a bikini before, don't think people will think it's suddenly cute because you're pregnant. If I am pregnant in the summer, I plan to wear a swimsuit. I always heard that getting in the pool when you're well into your pregnancy is wonderful because you are weightless and it takes a lot of the pain off of your back.

I can put two cents worth here as well. It has nothing to do with being pregnant, but wearing a wet swimsuit, and never getting dried out, or changing into dry clothes can cause both yeast infections and UTI's. I have this first hand from and aquatics instructor. My mom would not let us run around all day in suits, once we were done swimming, so I never had that problem.

I appreciate your thoughts, mkirby.. :P and thanks for your additional info, gardengerty...that's really a helpful knowledge especially those who wouldn't change their clothes and go on with their swimming suits all day. Thanks!

Well I won't have to worry about this- as I lan on having no more kids-- But I see alot of women in suits when thety are pregnant! I think it is great! It gets real hot here in the summer-- and why not? Pregnancy is a beautiful thing -and I say all the power to them for showing it off- If I was pregnant I probably would do a nice 1 piece suit-- I'm not the flashy type..

Yes, there are a lot of wonderful suitable swimsuits for women that are pregnant, I bet that your friend is looking forward to having her baby and that is not too bad to be in a 2 piece as she is only 4 months pregnant. I would wear a suitable bathing suit up until I was 6 months as after that time my tummy would be just be too big to look really good. I have never heard of any health issues regarding wearing a swimsuit.

Health risks...hello-o. Why should it be unhealthy to wear a swim suit pregnant or otherwise?
What is the problem about being pregnant? Pregnancy doesn't stop you from doing anything. The growth of the infant is gradual within you so that you just take each new day as it comes. Some women like to exaggerate their condition as if they're carrying a huge burden. They are probably looking for attention.

I still have problems with the tight fit of some of today's maternity clothing. Are they really comfortable? I will say they do look more stylish that the old tent dress and big tops we used to wear.

We live in an appartment house with a swimming-pool, so we've got an opportunity to go to the pool every day. So I did when I was pregnant. When my tummy was already rather big I thought that I would never go to the beach, I don't have the courage to appear in a bathing suit in front of a crowd. But in our swimming-pool I used to meet only several people, and each time they saw me they asked me about the baby inside, how I felt and when I was going to deliver. :)

I would wear a swimsuit my whole pregnacy. I believe that pregnant women are one of the most beautiful things there are. I would never hide the fact that I am pregnant and I LOVE to swim so..

I don't feel comfortable wearing swimsuits how much more if I'm pregnant. I'll rather look at people wearing it instead of me wearing it. I just know what looks good on me. I just remember seeing a celebrity wearing a swimsuit and it looks good on her. Maybe it's how confident you wear it that matters.

i am so slef conscience of my growing body. i love that i am carrying a baby, but i dont love how i LOOK carrying my growing baby. :) i do wear a bathing suit though. it isnt a tight one that hugs my body to flaunt the belly. the top looks like a halter top and is loose fitting around th belly, and it comes with a pair of matching boy shorts. i feel very comfortable wearing it. i am 9 months preggo and still wear it when i go to the indoor pool. i am not going to let my insecurities ruin my 16 month old sons fun in the water. :)

Whenever I was pregnant in the summer time I had NO problem showing off my prego belly. I was totally proud of it wanted to let everyone know. I dont see a problem with that at all.

I probably wouldn't do this as I would never be able to afford the crazy price they charge for something you wouldn't have for all that long so I would probably just stick to a pair of shorts and a t-shirt , but I do agree that they do make some that are really cute and stylish .
I can't see that there would be any health risks assocaited with wearing a swimsuit as it doesn't matter what you wear as long as it fits properly and it is really healthy for both mom and baby if you go swimming and stay in shape while you are pregnant .

I think it's cute to wear bathing suit eventhough your a pregnant.. I'm already a mother and i do wearing a bathing suit but it's only a one piece suit, and it's comfortable and it's nice and pretty. I dont think there are some health risks on wearing bathing suits while pregnant. It's a matter of carrying the baby while your swimming and need to have some lotion to protect your tummy..

As far as i know, there are no health risks in women wearing a bathing suit, i would like to know where you heard that :S
I think pregnant women should be proud of their bellies, i mean i would not go around wearing crop tops to church, but if it was summer and i was at a pool or a beach or something even at 9 months pregnant i would wear a bikinin (as long as my rear was not comparable in size with my swollen tummy lol) becaue i would be proud that i am carrying lifes only real miracle inside of me, and i would want the whole world to know that a miracle is about to be born. I am a strong believer in the fact that there is a time and a place for everything, and when it somes to pregnant women wearing swimsuits, i say all the power to them!!!! I think its awsome for any pregnant woman to be comfortable enough to wear one!

i think a pregnant woman who will wear a swimsuit especially a two-piece have a really
3. big gutts in doing that... especially when their tummy is very big already... but even a pregnant woman have a gutts to flawnt their body, not all of them looks good... some doesnt look good on them... i think a pregnant woman is still sexy and looks great in swimsuit if their tummies is not yet very big, about 1-4 months, but some women still gets a not too big tummy even if their already 5-7 months...
if i can see a pregnant woman wear a two-piece, i would really admire her for the her gutts to wear that....
