How much do plan on spending on Christmas Presents for your children?

Is it fair to spend the same amount on each child, or should parents get the same amount of presents? Just curious. I usually try to spend about the same amount of money on each child for Christmas, but my oldest doesnt think its fair. Because she wants bigger things, so she doesnt get as many presents as the younger ones. Wanted to see how other parents do for Christmas, or any advice on how to explain this to a 7 year old. I always try to be fair with them all.

I have heard of these before, and this year I am going to give it a try. Hoping that someone will get them what they need, that I cant afford. We have the angel tree where I am at. I have heard lots of good things about it. I hope both our kids get what they need from this.

I have to agree. Money is VERY tight for my family right now. I am hoping to somehow come up with something to get all my kids so they will all be happy. I always try to get as much as I can and what they want. Good luck to you being able to get what your kid(s) want. Thanks for responding

I don't think it matters as long as the kids can't tell. As long as you're buying roughly same quality items and items that you know each of your individual children will like, I think price isn't that important.

I have tried explaining to my oldest that same thing. It happened last year too. Yet she was still dissapointed. Even though she got what she wanted most. I am hoping that this year will be better and she will understand better. Thanks

I think it is very fair that you spend the same amount on each of them, that is a wonderful idea. I think she will uderstand better with time. I plan on spending $100-$200 on my son this year, but he is an only child.

I am not going to be spending much this year, it's way too tight for us. They will get stuff from their grandparents hopefully. I think that bigger priced items should be enough for an older child. It should be quality, not quantity.

Thanks to all for letting me know. I am still not sure as to what I will do. But like you I will have to wait and see how much money I do have to spend. Thanks Again!

i think that what matters most is that they get the same number of gifts and close to the same amount of money, but its hard to spend the same amount on everyone, i would just try to keep it as close as i could

My kids are old enough not to care now, but when they were young, I tried to get them the same number of presents. They didn't know or care how much I spent on them. I think more important than that is how appropriate the presents are and how much they wanted them.

That use to happen to me when my children were younger. My son is 7 years older than my daughter and he use to always get upset because, he thought she got more presents then he did but, his gifts were more expensive. I spent the same amount on each of them.
