Disappointed with Pogo

I have been a pogo member for 3 years now. When it first started, the cost was low and it provided a great way to play games and chat with people. Now... we're all badge addicts! So Pogo capitalizes on that by offering premium badges, and the new "gem" bought items. I wish it hadn't turned into such a commercialized thing. We all started playing for the same reasons, now we pay to have the chance to get extra badges to show off in our profiles. Really, does the one who dies with the most badges win?? :-) I do love the site and keep up with the weekly challenges, I just wish they would have offered the badge books just for being a devoted member instead of trying to make an extra buck.

I too have been a member for 3 years. I am a badge addict as well. I have bought gems & premium badges, but i regret it. I wish they wouldn't have offered them. I have spent around $60 on these "extras", & for what, to have the badges in my profile to show off. That is kind of dumb of me.

I absolutely agree. I joined 4 years ago for the fun and friends. I've played tons of games and made so many friends. Once they started Club, I joined and have become so addicted, its pathetic. I wish you could buy the badges/challenges with your tokens instead of money! I have over 600 badges... how many do I need to "win"? LOL

Fortunately, I'm not a badge junkie :) The weekly challenges are fun and all, and I'll attempt them, but if I don't make it, oh well, I'll do it some other time. I've seen where you can buy some, and to me that's just such a scam. Think about it, what do you do with these badges? You don't advance in life, or pogo for that matter with them :) It's just a personal thing that some people enjoy, and really they shouldn't charge you extra $$ for them, especially with what they're charging for membership fees now. I've been a member since I think 1999 or 2000, and a club pogo member since that started, and I know when my membership is up this summer, if the price hasn't gone down(which I don't know why it would lol) I won't be signing up again. Too expensive for me, I'll just play the regular games. And I agree with you, give something to those that have been around awhile, some kind of incentive you know?

I so agree with you
I adore pogo and would never stop being a member.
But it would be nice for them to just give badge albums or gems out to us that do or have paid for several years. It would help boost them up to know that they do care about their members more then just the money we give them.

I don't have a problem with them offering the premium badges if it'll help keep the cost down of club pogo. I was disappointed to see the price had gone up when my club pogo renewed in January.
I enjoy the weekly challenges, but don't do the premium badges. I still have the extra gems they gave to me. I'll probably use it on one of the challenges, but don't plan to buy any gems.

I just bought my first year and i can't belive how much it cost $40 a year. Lets just hope and pray we all win some big money from them that would be nice.

I've been a member of Pogo since 1992 but have only been a paid member for the last 2 years. I gave myself the paid membership as a Christmas present back in 2005 and I love it but the price seems to go up every year when it comes time to renew it. Now they've added the gems that you have to buy more of if you want those badges. They should make the gems a special prize you can earn instead of having to buy them.

That's a great idea. Maybe we should all team up and make a proposal to Pogo about using tokens to buy gems. If that's the case though, why can't we buy these badge books etc with tokens now? I really think they need to revamp. All the money making ideas they have take away from the experience and great community of players pogo has.

The gem badges are cute and I did get one with the free gems they offered (Canasta) but I'm not about to buy any of them or the premium books. I have enough trouble keeping up with the weekly badges sometimes, especially when it's for a game I don't know how to play. Sure, I'd like to be able to get the "special" badges, but can't see myself wasting the money for them when I already had to pay for the membership in the first place.
