If you're gonna take a look at my fingernails, surely you would be amazed on how short the fingernails are because i do bite them. And it already became my hobby. There are times when I couldn't notice already that I'm biting it especially if I get nervous or when there are examinations. Many would tell me that it's dirty. Yeah, i know. That's why I keep on washing my hands thoroughly because I know anytime, I would bite my fingers again. :) Do you also bite your fingernails? I bet there could be a handful of you in mylot. :)

Never, because I think it's unhygienic. :P
But then again, I was quite surprised to read the report of a recent study into nail biting. It was suggested that nail biting is actually beneficial. By ingesting a small amount of bacteria each day, you actually become healthier.
Unfortunately, I can't find that report anymore for I would love to show it to you.

That can be unhygenic but what can I do? I think, this is already my mannerism. When I had my retainers put on my teeth before, I would still have time to bit my fingernails. Oh no! i'm already growing old! ANd I think i really have to stop this. Well, from what you have said that nail biting is healthy? whew! I don't think it is. With the more bacteria that's been coming in. BUt I do hope you can show that to me though. lol :)

I used to bite my nails. I bit them so far down they would hurt and bleed. I don't anymore, I found some nail biting fingernail polish that tastes disgusting and several years later I am bite free. It's a very bad habit!

I was in the same boat. Whenever I felt nervous about anything, I'd bite my nails. Today they're pretty okay, except for very stressing moments...

I did until I was about 13 or 14 and decided I wanted long nails so I gave up. It is an expression of anxiety when you bite your nails.like tapping your fingers on a desk or tapping your feet or playing with your hair. Like you say when you are nervous you are worse, it is a way of trying to displace the worry. If you could learn to be a more relaxed person you might be able to give it up.

No, I do not bite my nails. My son, however, does! and it drives me bonkers! he has always got his finger in his mouth chewing on his nails, or the flesh because there is not enough nail left! it is a bad habit he does when he is excited or nervous. I do not like talking with him when he has his hand up in his face like that.
