how do you explain to your child all about the "birds and the bees"?

I wait unti the issue comes up. For example when I was pregnant my 3 year old wanted to know how the baby came into my tummy so I explained how Mummy and Daddy had a special cuddle. Then when she was 4 she asked me when I was bleeding so I explained about periods and how they came when I didn't want to have another baby. I just think you need to keep the details simple and suitable for their age, but make sure they know the answers to the questions they are asking and most importantly you tell the truth.

Just consider it natural fact of life and explain as much as the kid can understand. It is not a dirty or bad thing and you can raise a healthy person that will have no hang ups about sharing their body with their chosen loved one. Don't be shy and again answer any questions matter of factly and at an age appropriate level for the child.

I think I explained to my 15 year old daughter when she was about 7 years old. I know that is a young age but a daycare she was going to, did not surpervise the children whatsoever. there were children of all ages in this daycare and one little boy was caught in the bathroom with my daughter with his pants down. I had to take my child to counseling after that , so I could get help in teaching her that it was improper behavior for little girls and boys at that age to pull down their pants. I wanted to tell her myself but I needed some guidance on it. We both ended up going to counseling together so we could get through that difficult time together. I was devastated when I found out and I didn't know how to explain to a 7 year old girl about the birds and bees correctly.

I tried to explain it to my sisters son but failed and I am searching some way to teach him.
