I cooked Dahl on saturday, it contains lentils, spices, garlic, onions and olive oil. There's no meat in it, so how long should it last in my refrigerator? I've never cooked it before and just need to know how long I can keep it in a container in there before it's no good. I would freeze it but there's no more room in my freezer!

the lentils on there own do go bad too. I would suggest that you not try to keep it longer than 4-5 days. When lentils start going bad, they smell slightly wierd so you should be able to tell from smelling it.

There is a possibility that the onions might go off. If I was you I would cook it up today, but make sure you bring it to the boil before you eat it. I never store things for more than two or three days as I'm always worried I might get food poisoning even though everythign I cook is vegan.

From what I've learnt from countless food safety seminars, the most dangerous areas for food poisoning are dairy, meat and seafood. But you can never be too careful, even if you don't contract a bad case of poisoning, being careless with food can cause tummy bugs and upsets.
