Have you ever started a discussion out of curiousity and thought you'd get a couple of replies, you would have an answer and it would go away to dead discussion land? Then you check your discussions to see if you need to answer any and the dam* thing is back staring you in the face. You say well give it a day .The next dat you come back and there is is right in the very active discussions. It has taken on alife of it's own is getting scary.
Have you ever started one that you wish to Joseph,Mary,Jesus you hadn't?

Oh, eversince I joined mylotm this has been happening quite frequently. In the older days, when discussions were displayed on a different format, that is, according to the latest post that had been made, I did get my topics exposed and earned some responses, but now, it has become harder. I trie to create very evocative topics but most of them earned 0 responses. The list of discussions I wished I'd not created kept piling up until I got used to that feeling of embarassment, so now, I'm used to it!
I guess earning responses now relies majorly on your friends, enough of whom if chooseto reply to your topic, your topics will be displayed in the most active ones. However, I dont have a very interative or active friends' network and am still trying to build one.
What you say about a discussion popping up in the most active ones afer one day happened once with me. but since my topic was "Why are mylot's earnings fluctuating?", I was breaching mylot's rules and so didn't earn a penny for the over weventy responses I received! Lolz...

I have started discussions that I wish that I could delete. It isn't that I am tired of getting responses for it. I would like to delete it because it caused alot of controversy and alot of negative feedback, is why. I do not mean to step on toes or hurt and family or friends. that is not my intentions at all. I wish we could get rid of those discussions before it turns out to be something that we will regret for the rest of our lives.

Sometimes I do just want a simple answer to a question and end up getting loads of responses to it and I have to go and rate all of them and don't always want to.

i sure have. and that topic wasn't started just out of curiosity, huh! i started it to really ask for ideas and the next thing i knew, out of the 60 plus people who responded, about 80% lambasted me. now i wish i never started it in the first place.

Oh, I believe this has happened to a lot more. Not to me, though. There are some discussions which I noticed were posted months ago, yet they are still picking up some discussions from some mylot clients. There are those which has reached more than a hundred responses and the count is still going up. I thought that how lucky for these to have thought of a started discussion which got everybody's attention. This is the first time I have encountered one complaining of it. The complaints posted are of those discussions which hardly get any answer at all. There is one also, who cannot believe that none of her discussions ever made it to the top discussions list.

LOL...raydene, I know what you mean. I also have my fair share of my discussions that I dreaded showing up again. When I'm still a newbie here, I posted two discussions that wasn't planned carefully. I think its natural for everyone to start with poor topics. We learn to get use to it. :0

It always happen to me. Not that I am complaining, but that the number of responses is sort of surprising. Certain discussions which I spent hours planning and crafting, I expect responses, it did not come within expectation. I have one particular discussion which was posted out of frustration and hey, it caught the attention of many. Life is so ironical.

LOL, I haven't had that problem, but I see a lot of ones that were there several weeks ago resurfacing.
That gets irritating, but then it could be due to all the new people coming and wanting to make a reputation form themselves.

Lol, well I love receiving responses to my discussions, but I started one just recently on reaching the 6 month mark of no smoking, and I ended up getting like 109 responses to it.
As I was responding to responses, more and more pages were appearing as people kept responding lol. I despaired of ever reaching the end!
I wouldn't say that I wish I hadn't started it, but it was a pain in the rear trying to respond to everyone's responses lol.
