When it comes to work parties, I try to make finger foods. Most of the time at office parties, people are walking around and chatting, so making something that would require a lot of cutting could be a bad thing. I also like to avoid things that are too covered in sauce because well, I'm a pretty clumsy person and I hate the idea of spilling something on my work clothes. Mostly because work clothes can be pretty expensive.
So here are a few suggestions:
Chicken Satay
Pasta Salad
stuffed mushrooms

Chicken Satay is basically grilled strips of chicken that have been marinated on skewers. You then serve it with a dipping sauce. People always request them when my office has receptions.

I'd do a light pasta salad with Italian dressing with fresh veggies in it. Or how about a nice jello salad. Both are low in calories and quite tasty. If you are not in the mood to cook, you could always be in charge of dessert which could be angel food cake with strawberries & whip topping.
I enjoy potluck lunches, you never know what is going to end up being served. It is a good way to promote a nice friendly atmosphere and helps bring all of your co-workers together for something other than a business meeting.

Here are three that have been a big sucess for me at potlucks and church dinners. If you were interested in something with more of main dish feel let me know, I have a few of those too.
**MUST BE MADE 24 HOURS IN ADVANCE
24 hour salad
a great change from green salad or potato salad, great party pleaser
1 head of iceberg lettuce
1 bunch green onions
6 hard boiled eggs
1 pkg fresh spinach- cleaned and dried off
1 pkg frozen peas
1 lb cooked bacon
topping 2 cups mayo
1 small carton sour cream
1 pkg hidden valley dressing (not dip)
(dry variety not in bottle)
you layer the first 6 items in this order:
lettuce, spinach (tear in to small pieces), green onions, frozen peas,
eggs and bacon.
Mix rest of the items in a small bowl, ice the salad like you would a
cake. store in fridge overnight, mix well before serving.
I recommend that you use a very large bowl with its own lid. I use the 32 cup bowl from tupperware.
TACO SALAD
3 lb. ground beef
1 lg. green pepper
1 head shredded lettuce
Diced tomatoes
1 lg. bottle Catalina dressing (I use more)
Taco seasoning (I use 2 packs)
1 lg. onion
Grated Cheddar cheese
1 bag Doritos (plain or nacho cheese)
OPTIONAL: I like to add extras such as sliced black olives, chopped green onions, chopped green chilies. Anything to suit your taste. Mix ground beef with onion and green pepper. Brown in pan, then drain off fat, and
let cool. Mix shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, grated Cheddar cheese, and any of the extras. Add cooled beef mixture. When ready to serve, crush Doritos and add to the above. Stir in Catalina dressing. Enjoy!

Hi if you want something that's easy and quick you could always boil some pasta shells then when they are cooked drain the water. Add one 400ml tin of tuna which has had the oil/water drained out of it. Mix them both togeher then add about 1/3 cup of mayonaise. I call this Tuna Pasta. For a change I also add about 1/3 cup of mixed vegies also.

Do you want finger foods or a meal?
Cookies are easy. Any kind.
Rotel dip is easy too.
Anything you can do in a crock pot is the best way. (assuming you have one)
