Do you consider yourself materialistic?

I have 3 siblings. We were really poor when we were still kids. I remember going to our neighbor to watch television because my parents cannot afford to buy one for us. We ate whatever is on the table that's why we all love eating vegetables because that's the only food our parents could afford during that time. I remember my mom going to our relatives asking to lend her money so we'll be able to go to a school near us. My dad has no permanent job then so I can imagine how hard it is to survive a day for my parents.
Thank God we have survived all those years and we all have graduated college. Because of our childhood experiences we learn how to value life instead of money and material things.
Now, I would rather spend a day in the park with my kids than go shopping and waste money doing shopping for clothes or shoes. We don't have expensive things because we don't find happiness in materials things but we concentrate on life itself and how to make it beautiful for us and for those around us. I hope people would never give too much importance on materials things because we don't actually need those when we go to our next life. Right?

Yes I agree with you.I am not a materialistic person and I grew up also from a poor family.I am not fond of buying those things which are not necessary to our basic needs.

Yes of course, imagine how much lives can we touch if we could donate those money we are spending for expensive clothes and shoes to the less fortunate people.

I will have to admit that I am a very ambitious person and will consider myself to be a materialistic person. I have a dream. All those dreams are for all those luxury things that everyone longs for, a big beautiful house, a nice car, a good job, good savings...etc. though I am a very materialistic person, I am aware of the fact that if I don't have a successful family/marriage in the future...it's still a failure. Good day!

I agree with you entirely. It is very easy to get too involved in using material things and forget what is important. My kids much perefer a picnic in the park to and expensive day out and they both like being outside with their friends, so in the summer they are hardly in the house. It is much cheaper to get them a few toys for the garden than take them out all the time.

I have been through the same thing as you. My family really struggled finacially when i was growing up and we lived in town where not many people struggled like we did so i was constantly reminded of how much i thought i was missing out on. But as I grew up, i realized that those people who had everything they wanted were not always happy people and that they were not nearly as close as me and my family were. So now that Im grown, im not materialistic. I appreciate what i have in life and live each day as a blessing

It's really nice to know that not all would give too much importance to material things. Have a nice day ahead and a blessed week also.
