ok now that i hit 500 posts and on the weekend i will have time to catch up here.
My first question who all rates every single person and repsonse that you have in the discusssions you answered and the ones you posted? do you do every one??
also the other question. When you post a discussion like i did this morning about 500 posts or the happy first day of spring. How would you pick the best response for a discussion like that
thanks for all the congrats on making it to 500.
i cant wait till tonight to be able to copy and past now

Congrats on reaching 500 posts !! I dont think cutting and pasting will ever be a privilege for me.
In answer to your question, I rate every discussion I respond to. As for the people who respond to my discussion...for the most part I rate everyone positive, even if they disagree with me I still give a positive...my way of saying thanks for taking time to reply. Now, if someone replies to my discussion and is rude or criticizes my post then I don't rate them. I have yet to rate anyone negative only because I think everyone is entitled to their opinion...even if I don't agree.
I don't award best response based on just one thing. I look for quantity, quality, and most importantly I look for a genuine response. I'm not sure if I should admit this but what the heck...If I recieve more than one worthy response then I usually give BR to someone from my friends list. But I only do that as a tie breaker.

well to be completely honest i first go to my friends discussions first when i sign into mylot..read those try to send a quick note or if its something that needs a little more i do so and rate it...then i look at my posts has anyone read them hmm if so i respond to there post and make a note to make sure i pay attention to there posts at later date..then its off to discus sons within my interests always proves something good to reply too again if it is thought provoking i rate it PS ( just found the rate button yesterday lol) then its on to new discussions and finally i search around on my freebies sites but watch the mylot bar for interesting topics that come up..so basically i have no life..lmao right now to be honest I'm a total bundle of nerves waiting for the call from my mortgage broker to see if the house i put a bid in for is accpeted...say a little prayer for me will ya...
have a wonderful day hon hope you get somethings accomplished and remember to take are of you

I rate all my discussions and most responses, if I the person is rude or aggressive about their opinion then they do not get rated.
I would pick the person who wrote the lovliest thing on a discussion like that or who made the most effort - link, poem, pictures etc. Sometimes just one sentance can really touch us and we know straight away tis is the best reply.
I really hope this is going to be as much fun as you'd like it to be now you can use more features!

I try to rate all the answers to my discussions, the comments, and often responses in other discussions that I found were of quality. Every once in a while, I come across responses that I"m at a loss of how to rate because either don't make sense, are not related to the subject or something similiar. I prefer not to rate at all them to rate minus ( - ).
As for best responses on a discussion like you point out ( 500 posts ) it would be a bit complicated. I would rate everyone that responded +( as a rule ) and then I don't know...give best response to who?
- the lowest star
- the most original response
- the one that made you smile
I don't know , but I"m sure that when you re read the answer you will have an idea:)

I rate every post that I read weather I comment or not.I also only give - if I feel the post is very inapproiate or negative toward someone.Someone being mean will get a minus in a hurry from me.I do not give a - to someone that has a different opinion then me.I don't think that's what a discussion list is all about.
The best response is the one that speaks to you in some way...maybe answers your question better then the others or says it in a way that you liked.
I'm glad you're here..it's fun isn't it?

Even I'm confused regarding picking best response . Thinking of marking best response after 2 to 3 weeks of posting a discussion so that can get maximum responses and then will have a choice to select which is the best.
Yes, I mark a positive to every response I get . Haven't felt like marking negative to any single response except one where It was only hehehehehehe and hahahahaha . Then realized that it would made difference to his earning so left is unmarked.
Copy and paste gives us a lot of freedom to work offline too .

I gave my congratulation at your other topic so.....Answering to your question,i don't rate all the response I get ,because to much time come people and post few words or after you read you see just they want another number at them points and didn't really car to read carefully your discussion. So if I rate all I'll not be fair for the other that post quality responses.
about how you will choose the best response at your other topic I'm sure if you find the time read all the response your instinct will show to you the best. After all you are fair person right?

I hit 500 a while back and still don't copy and paste-- I guess I just haven't felt the need to do it yet--
I try to rate every response-- if the person doesn't answer the question and just types garbage-- I dont rate them.. But if they try to answer the question-- even with 1 liners I rate them.
If I have several best responses-- I pick the one that was wrote first... If it is a silly question- I just pick the one that answers the question first.

I rate as many posts and responses as I can.
Choosing best response is a personal thing. I ask myself is the response thoughtful and well set out? Have they answered the post properly. Does this post stand out over the others? You are the only one that can choose this.
Congrats on the 500 posts. Next stop....1000.

hi. I figued since you said something about hitting 1000
becareful i had my posts deleted for some reason about hitting 500. I dont know if someone is reporting me or what. I also had 4 taken off my count last night. I am going to see what happens to my count tonight. If this continues i am going to leave here.

In answer to your first question, I do rate all the responses to posts that I have started. I also rate all the questions I answer. However I don't rate all the other answers as I find this takes ages. The only exception to this is if its a particularly interesting discussion and I have read all the answers I will rate as I go along.

I rate every response for my discussions though this is not usually the norm for others. Normally, people just give a plus or minus to those really deserving. I am just an extra nice guy. :P
As for your second question, I would just choose the one who made you laugh the hardest. Or one that you can see put in the most effort in replying. If you really can't find any, just give it to someone you like. No hard and fast rule really. :P

I rate the people that respond to my question on the same day I pick the best answer. I normally don't rate others answers to a post I am myself answering unless it si really good. In a situation such as yours, happy first day of spring, I would either pick the most thoughtful answer or the one that made me laugh as we all need a good laugh now and then. I can't wait until I can copy & paste too.. do tell us how wonderful it is....lol

Congrats on 500!
Often I forget to rate, *hangs head in shame*
but I try to go back and rate later.
Picking the best response? Your threads have like 75 responses - and all the little sub-discussions under a thread don't count do they? Narrow it down a bit and choose from friends.
Most of the few threads I started have maybe 2 responses so I don't have that problem. lol! In fact I've got one discussion out there with zero replies and I need to pick a best response if I get any. **hint hint**

I guess I'll get you here since I tried to respond to both of your posts regarding you reaching 500 and I am being told that they are deleted....CONGRTATS!!!!I rate everyone who responds to my posts and if I can't decide who to choose for BR I will go down my friends list and see who I have chosen the least and give it to them.....I know, sometimes it can be hard when the only responses you get are congratulatory

congrds on reaching your 500 posts...You are the one who is suppose to rate the questions...If you feel that a person has posted a good discussion than you can rate it a + - or abuse....I rate each one i feel is worthy to be rated,I usually rate mine ..When you get all your answers for your discussions, you can get several answers..you can also wait 2 or 3 days...When you see the best response ,the one person you feel has done a better job on answering your dicussion, then you pick that person as your best response...

i do rate all the responses i get on my posts but i rarely do the same to those discussions i reply to. i think it's for the starter to do that;) but sometimes there r some really good and heart touching responses to others' posts that one has to give a + or add some comment!:) ur second question is similar to what i m asking myself also! i posted a post related to my star rating and now i m finding it hard to whom to give BR!

Nice. So you are now among the higher level members(atleast for present, for me you are). I am really eager to reach the mark myself but it will certainly take a lot of time for me to be there. By the way, its really hard to select the best response. What you can do is, just close your eyes and rate each reasponse from one to ten. It will not only help you to make a decission but it will also stop the biasing.

Usually I rate each response that I read and each discussion that I read. I rate the responses/comments based on how well they pertain to the subject matter.
As for picking a best discussion, unfortnately I don't do that well myself. Still learning to pick and choose myself.

Picking a best response is still something I hate doing! Occasionally one response will stick out as being better than the rest but usually there are half a douzen that are equally as good!
I always rate the original discussion writer, but not necessarily those that have responded as well. It would be too time consuming. Discussions that I have posted I always rate every single person who replies. I try to make comments throughout the thread but it isn't always possible to reply to everyone.
Congratulations on reaching 500 posts. Hopefully I will be ther with you soon!
