I agree waling somewhere beautiful like by the coast or in the countryside relieves my stress. Cycling home from a boring meeting at work is essential or I arrive home feeling stressed. A warm shower is relaxing to me. Cuddling up with my dogs can be very helpful in relieving my stress. Writing a letter is not sometyhing I'd do as I think the person would know I was not feeling in a good mood when I wrote it. I only watch television if there is something I really want to see like a prgramme about travel.

I usually check my mail or write poetry, that helps me relax a lot. I read mails from friends and family, that not only makes me feel good but also I forget my other worries for a while. I also watch tv to take a break from mylotting and the stress which arises from it..lol Sometimes stalking cheaters and following responses can be strenuous.

I do Yoga (asanas or poses) to relieve stress. It works miracles for me. The more regularly I practise the higher my stress level gets. No need to be a Yogi, 5 simple exercises a day can do the trick. It´s essential to get some info about Yoga before starting, as some exercises should be avoided if you have back problems for instance.

Television, surfing online or local arromaterapeutical massage or inhalation. Good conversation with friend also helps a lot.

Hi Kathy, well i've tried relaxing and meditation, but my brain is far too active and it ends up going off on a tangent. A lovely bubble bath is good, so is reading a book, but my best therapy is putting a dvd on of your favourite comedy film or comedian and have a good laugh! They say laughing reduces your stress and I've found it works for me!

There are two things that always work for me when I was stress out. First one is have a very long bath without any interuption.. This can be a bit tricky nowadays as it's only possible to do it after my son go to bed which is around 8pm. Second one is have a very long walk, I find this one a bit easier because I can do it with my son sitting in the buggy. And Not only he normaly would fall asleep so I'll have some quite moment to gather my thought.I can also have some nice fresh air thta can clear my head..

Well, I pray, and when my foot was well, I took long walks in the middle of the desert and enjoyed the peace and quiet. +++ again.

I usually take a trip out on the beach and sit and watch the waves and my 10 month old play in the sand. I also take a book and read while i am laying there soaking up the sun. Its really a good stress reliever! :)

Most of the time I sing ... and it helps relieve my stress But sometimes, if singing doesn't work or I don't feel like singing because I am wayy too stressed then the only remedy is Classical Music ... I play it loud on my boombox, get comfy in the sofa or a reclining chair, close my eyes ... and FEEL the music ... I feel the notes going through my body It is soothing ... try it ... you won't believe how good it makes you feel afterwards

I agree. Never think too much about your problems as the more you think the bigger the problem becomes. I like to listen to music but as everyone is different, I think that they should do something they love to reduce the stress. I sometimes play a violent PS2 game to vent my anger. Things like this works as well. I hope this heps someone out there. I never reall stress about anything. It does not change anything so why worry about it. Cest' La Vie' What ever will be will be.

Stress is the wear and tear our bodies experience as we adjust to our continually changing environment; it has physical and emotional effects on us and can create positive or negative feelings. As a positive influence, stress can help compel us to action; it can result in a new awareness and an exciting new perspective. As a negative influence, it can result in feelings of distrust, rejection, anger, and depression, which in turn can lead to health problems such as headaches, upset stomach, rashes, insomnia, ulcers, high blood pressure, heart disease, and stroke. Positive stress adds anticipation and excitement to life, and we all thrive under a certain amount of stress. Deadlines, competitions, confrontations, and even our frustrations and sorrows add depth and enrichment to our lives. Our goal is not to eliminate stress but to learn how to manage it and how to use it to help us. Insufficient stress acts as a depressant and may leave us feeling bored or dejected; on the other hand, excessive stress may leave us feeling "tied up in knots." What we need to do is find the optimal level of stress which will individually motivate but not overwhelm each of us. There are numbers of ways to manage the stress better, you have to identify unrelieved stress and being aware of its effect on our lives is not sufficient for reducing its harmful effects. Just as there are many sources of stress, there are many possibilities for its management. However, all require work toward change: changing the source of stress and/or changing your reaction to it. The specific ways include the followings: Firstly,You have to be aware of your stressors and your emotional and physical reactions, notice your distress and not ignore it,do not gloss over your problems. You have to determine what events distress you. Also you have to determine how your body responds to the stress. Secondly, you have to recognize what you can change. You asl your self whether you can change your stressors by avoiding or eliminating them completely, reduce their intensity ,shorten your exposure to stress? You also need to devote the time and energy necessary to making a change e.ggoal setting, time management techniques. Thirdly, you can reduce the intensity of your emotional reactions to stress. The stress reaction is triggered by your perception of danger, physical danger and emotional danger. YOu ask yourself are you viewing your stressors in exaggerated terms or taking a difficult situation and making it a disaster. You can work at adopting more moderate views, try to see the stress as something you can cope with rather than something that overpowers you. Also try to temper your excess emotions amd put the situation in perspective. Do not labor on the negative aspects. Fourthly, you can learn to moderate your physical reactions to stress. Take slow, deep breathing will bring your heart rate and respiration back to normal. Relaxation techniques can reduce muscle tension. Electronic biofeedback can help you gain voluntary control over such things as muscle tension, heart reate, and blood pressure. Medications, when prescribed by a physician, can help in the short term in moderating your physical reactions. However, they alone are not the answer. Learning to moderate these reactions on your own is a preferable long-term solution. Fifthly, you can build your physical reserves and exercise for cardiovascular fitness three to four times a week,e.g, walking, swimming, cycling, or jogging. You should eat well-balanced, nutritious meals and maintain your ideal weight. You also need to avoid nicotine, excessive caffeine, and other stimulants. Also it is important to mix leisure with work. Take breaks and get away when you can. Get enough sleep. Be as consistent with your sleep schedule as possible. Finally, you can maintain your emotional reserves and develop some mutually supportive friendships or relationships. Pursue realistic goals which are meaningful to you, rather than goals others have for you that you do not share. Also it is improtant to expect some frustrations, failures, and sorrows, and Always be kind and gentle with yourself, be a friend to yourself.

I find the best way to relieve stress is to refocus for a while. I like to go to the gym and exercise and talk to my friends, take a nap, or walk whatever i have in mind at the time that will not remind me of the stress i am under. It gives me a small vacation from the stress so i can cope a bit better when i do have to return to the real world. Basically just zone out whatever why you can.

I scream out of loud and curse about it (it helps a lot tho!) I joke around, I go for a walk with my dog, I hug and complain about my problem to my dog, I sleep to forget about it, I watch movies, I talk to my husband, friends, siblings and parents.

I have two good ways of relieving stress. The first one is to potter in the garden - tidying up, clipping, pruning, taking cuttings and planting them. If I don't feel like gardening, I drive down to the beach and walk for a while, then I settle myself down somewhere in the shade and just watch everyone having fun. Both these ways work for me. Sometimes going to the gym helps, but not always - depends on my fame of mind at the time.

I just play some music - either soothing or downright noisy. Taking a warm shower works too. A good night's sleep usually cures it. ;-)
