I suppose it depends on the individual's definition of poor. I have many friends that to others may appear financially poor, but are rich beyond measure in life's more precious valuables.

I completely agree. Poor to one person may be totally different (and probably is) to another. I believe that if one has grown up in a poorer environment and never been rich they don't know what they are missing out on so are happy with what they have. It's those who have had a taste of being rich that then become 'greedy' and can't appreciate the more important things in life - health and love. I personally would prefer to be poor and selfless rather than rich and greedy. I am not saying all rich people are greedy but I do find that those with money are always striving for more and more and can't be happy. Jst from experience!

Oxford dictionary gives the meaning of "Happy" as:-contended,pleased,fortunate,cheerful etc.
To me happiness is a state of mind.If you are reasonably healthy,POOR(I mean, you cannot have luxuries) but do not starve, and are not in need of cash,YOU CAN BE HAPPY!
I have known many poor happy people.
Many rich people suffer from ill-health and other misfortunes.

Next summer, i'll be going to Mozambique for a mission to help with education and i know that the little they have makes them happy! Probably if a person that was rich and became poor in minutes wouldn't be a happy person! In Mozambique they are used to have only that so they don't miss having other things!

I think it all depends if a man being poor is satisfied with what he has then he could be happy.

I think it depends on an individuals defination of poor, they could be monetarily poor, but rich in family & love. And to me, thats more important.

Yes, you can be poor and happy at the same time. I have been poor and happy for over 30 years. My life is full. I have a wonderful family...And, my Pearl of Great Price is my marriage.

yes................sometimes poor is just a matter of the mind. some people are poor in friendships and are happy, some are of poor wealth and are happy, but then there are the ones who are rich and are still unhappy. poor is a state of mind.

Someone said money doesn´t bring hapiness. But sure helps a lot. In our country there are so many that I´m starting to think we are all happy this way.

Well , i am a single stay at home mother and believe me this makes you almost poor...LOL! Although i don';t have money to spoil myself or anything once your a parent it is no longer about you. My kids have clothes and always have food on the table and i always make sure that their needs are filled. I have to say that i am as happy as they come and to me money does not give you happiness. Happiness comes from deep with in you and me and every other person that decides to look deeper to find it!
