My first book sold its first copy today. I am so excited! I know it's only one book, but hey, it's the beginning of what I know will be many sales.
The book is a manuscript of over 40 years of genealogy research. It's a page turner, I must say. It's one of those books that makes you laugh and in some chapters can make you cry crocodile tears.
It's the story of migration from South Carolina to Georgia during the infamous time called The Trail of Tears. It takes you along with the family to Alabama and later to Texas. It's a story of the determination a family had to possess while enduring poverty, disease and death but leads the family survival into the 21st century.
I'm so happy the book is in print, available and filled with so many memories.
Who else has sold an original manuscript? Was it the only book you sold? Did your first sale encourage you to do bigger and better things?

I have written a lot of books but I have never turned them in to be published. My family wants me to but I have to admit that I am a bit scared to walk down that road. I write a lot for online companies and have become known for being in Associated Content, this is where I write the most. I usually go by my maiden name Rosa Hayes. Congratulations on the book and I hope you get lots of fame and fortune from it.

Congratulations on your success!! What's the name of your book?? I have not sold anything yet, but that's because I haven't started writing anything yet. I have so many ideas bouncing around in my head and I can't decide where to start. I did, however, publish my very first article a couple weeks ago and that definitely encouraged me to do things bigger and better! Keep up the good work and I'm sure your book will sell its second copy very soon!!

I have not written any books but I have always told myself that I would some day. I just wanted to tell you congrats! That is a great thing to accomplish!! Was it very expensive to publish a book? I always thought that is what would hold me back. I don't believe I would have the finances to do something like that. How would I even know where to go to get a book published? What is the name of your book? I love to read and maybe I could search for it somewhere. Take care and thanks for sharing with us.

The expense is a part of what held me back nelly5. So you know what I did? I researched formatting and fonts, design and style and I self published it on my own computer, with my own printer. I designed my cover and bought a simple scrapbooking tool for binding. It has turned out to be just what I wanted. You should think about it. It gets the book into print and on the market.
Go to my website to see it.

Congratulations on your first sale and hope this is the beginning of many more sales. You always have to sell one for your book to be successful and hopefully that person will spread the word after reading it. I have never written a book myself. I think the first sale will be good motivation to do more. I do artwork and am getting ready to start selling on Ebay.

Conratulations! and i hope one day, you'll be able to congratulate me too on my success BUT, when will it come? i dont know... How did you sell your manuscript? to whom? I have written a story and i dont know if it's the right format (or is there really a format to follow when writing?) I want to publish it, but how? Who will buy my story? Where can I find a buyer? I dont know what should i do after I've written the story now. What's my next step? Can you help me? Thanks. :)

Hi Pearl.
I hope to congratulate you soon. I self-published my book and put it for sale on my website. With the cost of publication so high I decided I wanted to see if I could do it myself and get it out there. The more elaborate hard back publication will come in time, but for now, I'm doing it all myself, on my computer, with my own printer and advice from others regarding self publishing.
Go to my website. Send me an email and I can give you some pretty good advice.

First of all I will congratulate! I hope that your book become a landmark considering the subject you have mentioned in your writing!
I think that migration and survival both are very interesting aspect considering reality as well as fictional possibilities of autobiographical novel! What kind of format this book has?

Thanks healwell for the congratulations and thanks for the well wishes. Preservation of our past is vital to knowing who we are as a culture. It's a 'normal'format, with a historical, genealogical genre. I think it's fascinating myself. Thanks again.
