Age and dress, your thoughts?

I am 35 and still like to dress in what is current and what I like. I love the emo look, band tees, love black, and low rise jeans etc. Especially since I have been having a pretty decent weight loss after a divorce. Hot Topic is my favorite store! My question is what are your thoughts on what is appropriate to wear as you age? Do you think we should conform and go from Hot Topic to more sedate stuff, or, like me, wear what makes you feel good?

I actually posted a discussion a little bit like this one. I'm a jeans and t-shirt kind of slacker. that's it. but now that i am breezing through my college business corses and looking for a more substantial job, I am torn. Should I keep wearing my style, or lack thereof, or throw on the suit and tie prison just to conform to what is expected of me? If I don't do the suit and tie, what chance do I have of getting a 'real' job and finally making enough money to get out of my mom's basement? I just don't know.

This is a hard one Comrade. On one hand you don't want to be what you are not and then on the other hand you kind of have to dress somewhat to "the man". Of course aren't you aiming more for the journalistic field? There I would think you have way more freedom of style. Just go back to school, be a nurse like me and wear scrubs. Then the worst thing is looking like Walt Disney puked on your shirt with all the cartoon characters and stuff.

If I can get my writing off the ground, I'll be more apt to wear what I want. But if I have to take my Business degree, that I don't even want, and get a job, then I may have to change my dress.

Wear what you like and feel comfortable in. The only issue I have is when people don't wear clothes that fit. LOL You can be a size 4 or 40 and if you can't get clothes that fit your body size it's tacky looking. Style is up to you and your own individuality. If you feel comfortable in it then go for it.

I think its awesome that you wear what you want to wear and what makes you feel good! I dont think there is any rule that says when a person reaches a certain age they need to start dressing a certain way and anybody who criticizes you for wearing what you want to wear deserves a big kick in the a**!! I wish you were my mum so i could borrow your clothes hehe
