When I eat too much chocolate I feel pain like someone is hammering my head. Don't know if it's a symptom for migraine so now I try to control my chocolate consumption.
Most of the time though the pain feels like connected to the eyes. Maybe I have some eye problems too but I don't want to wear glasses.
Hope you find answer to your prob and feel better. Best regards!

Sounds like a migraine to me Shaun, do you feel nausious too? and does the light hurt your eyes? if so it really sounds like a migraine.
I get a one sided headache too, which is definately a migraine, but I get very nausious too. I have to lie down in a dark room and I put a face cloth soaked in cold water and squeezed out over the side of my head that hurts. This seems to help a little.
I would see your doctor if I were you to get a proper diagnosis.

I sometimes get them but had no idea that they could be a migrane. I would chalk it up to stress.

Sounds like it might be a migraine. Try to pay attention to what you're doing right before you get one. Some women get them around their period. Some people get triggers from chocolate, peanut butter, and various other things. If it is migraine, you can get prescriptions that really work a lot better than anything you can get over the counter.

I wish I knw. I have multiple sclrosis also. I have heard others with ms say that they think it is from the shots we are one. Of course I had migranes before I knew I had ms. So I think it has something to do with the brain and lights that trigger it. I know I hate getting them that's for sure.

Headaches involve mild to severe pain in one or more parts of the head as well as the back of the neck. There are many different types of headache patterns and a variety of causes. While painful and annoying, the majority of headaches do not indicate a serious disorder and, in non-chronic cases, may be relieved by medicines and/or changes in lifestyle.

Headaches can happen on just one side or area. Often these are tension or cluster headaches in style but migraines and even sinus headaches can do this as well. You should check with your doctor to make sure there is nothing wrong and what they can do for treatment. There are many options available. Make sure before you go to see the doctor that you write down everything that is going on, what might have caused the headache, how it acts, what helps it etc. The more you can tell them the more they can help you.

I read in another of your posts that you have MS and get shots....that's the kind of headaches my Avonex shots give me...like clockwork every week about an hour after my shot. Excedrine migraine medicine or drinks with lots of caffeine always help me.
If it hurts mainly around the eye socket and goes on for more than a couple days, have your eye doctor check it because it can be a side effect of the MS.

You know that could be it I take Rebif 3 times a week but it is simalar to Avonex. My nerologist put me on imetrex but that could be what causes the one side migrnes. I took it last night but the side effects can last longer. It is good to met someone else in here who also has MS

I'm not real sure what affect avonex has on the liver, but I know that they check me for liver trouble every 6 months too...
Does the rebif make you sick? Avonex makes me feel crummy for the rest of the day
And, hi Mike...name's Cindy :)

I do get headaches on the left side of my head too before but not so much now since I have found out the reason why I get those headaches. I get them usually when I don't eat on time & exposed to very bright lights so I wear sun shades all the time when I go out and dim the light in my work place or at home.

I do not suffer from it but i know this type of headche is called migraine, there are two natual ways to treat it without having medications which may hev side effects.
1)Massage- Gently massaging the face, neck and shoulders can relieve muscle tension in those areas, and hopefully relieve pain. Having someone massage your back, especially around your shoulders and neck, may also help. And some people report that a gentle but firm foot-massage helps.
2)Accupressure-Acupressure is based on the premise that gently massaging certain pressure points on the body provides pain relief. Pressure is applied to these points firmly, but without excess force; acupressure should not cause pain. If it does, stop applying pressure immediately. While the body has many acupressure points, two areas are of importance to headache sufferers.

I always have headaches on one side of my head.Mostly it is left sided but sometiems it is also right sided. It is very annoying to me.My headaches is increasingly becoming a migraine now.It starts as blurred vision and as the vision clears,I get a terrible one sided headache.I always keep paracetamol/tylenol or ibuprofen with me even when I go out because I cannot predict exactly when I might get a headache. One sided headaches are commonly classified under migraines.

i get headaches like that but its more in a certain place rather than a side of the head, like a certain spot with a diameter of 5-10cm. Mine just might be a headache though. I had one last night but I think that was because I had spent hours in front of the computer screen. It's not good to do that.

Hiya' Shaun72! I would like to read more about your situation, but I am afraid that I will get a migraine. (I have had two in the past two days, and don't want to stay on the computer for too long today. I don't know if I will be too successful with this as I love to read discussions.) Having a really bad headache on the left side of the head is definitely indicative of a migraine! The are horrible, and I am so sorry that you are going through that! Whenever, I have them, I have taken six, 200mg. Ibuprofen tablets, and that doesn't seem to help too much. Interestingly enough, my migraines did not begin until I started taking Effexor, and they are a common side effect. If you are taking an antidepressant, this may be a causing your migraines. 'Just something to think about. The only medication that helped me with the migraines is called Topomax. It is actually a preventitive medication for the migraines, and I definitely experienced them on a much less frequent basis. I don't take it now as it is very expensive, but it did help. I, too, get the migraines on the left side of my head, and right behind the eyeball can be the most concentrated area of pain. I hope that you have found, or will find something to help with them soon.

I use a lot of ibuprophen for mine also. I tried Topomax one time but it caused me to have a seziuire. I woke up at 4 am with my mouth moving uncontrolling. So I had to stop taking them. My Neurologist gave them to me for pain with Multiple sclrosis is how I found this out. I was taking immtrex for migrines but now i am on Fioricet it seems to work pretty well. I like it better then Immtrex

Hi. Yes, I've had headaches on just one side of my head. In the temple area. I was also diagnosed with Migrane, but not for those particilar headaches. I was diagnosed with Migrane because I used to get some dizziness and sometimes that was accompanied by a headache. Excedrine Migrane was recommended to me. It has several headache medications in one pill. It also has some caffeine in it.
