Woo Hoo. My First Chapter is done.

I made a discussion recently that I thought I was going to go for it as far as writing a novel. I have been organizing my work, and brainstorming for the last couple days. Tonight I decided to sit down and just do a bit of free association writing. To get the cobwebs out, and get ready to do it for real. I sat down, and the first chapter of something completely unrelated to what I had in mind just flowed out. I am so excited right now. And I think it is pretty good. I wasn't expecting that to happen. I decided to take a breather and read what I had written. I am at a good stopping point and its getting late, so I am going to put it away for tonight. But I was so excited, that I wanted to share.

I am excited for you. Can you give any hints as to what it is about? Just think, if you got published, I could say.. I knew you back before you got famous. LOL Congrats! I hope it all flows out that good.

Cool going. Its a fiction book I am guessing... I have never gotten that close to doing even a first chapter. I know as a kid I used to try to work on books but never even finished the ideas. But I always wanted to write since I was little and still have some of those stories I attempted or poems :)) Good luck and glad you are on a great start! Keep us updated. Its always good to talk to a fellow writer :))

Congratulations! That's awesome! The longest things I've written have come like that, to the point that I do not try to plan a story. If I decide to write something, I open a blank word document and just go at it. It really seems like the good stuff is coming THROUGH you, not from you, you know what I mean?

Its a wonderful feeling when that first chapter rolls out in front of you isnt it. Don't forget though that for many writers the shape if it will change dramatically during the many rewrites and you may have inspirations later in the book that force you to go back and alter that beginning. But that doesnt stop it being a great achievement.

Good for you! The hardest part sometimes, is just to get started. I'm taking a class for Speech and one of the first things they recommend when writing a speech is free association. It sounds like it working for your book too. Hope we all get a chane to read it online, or maybe even in a bookstore near us.

How totally awesome for you! I think I'm a little jealous along with being happy for you. Okay, I have no one to blame but myself for not sitting and writing, but I am truly happy for your accomplishment. Keep it up!!!!

If you need any help in writing your novel or want a reader, let me know. Congratulations on writing your first chapter. I am writing a novel and I've finished the first three chapters(in some editors eyes, the chapters that should be your strongest), so I understand your happiness when you finish the first chapter. I think the best writers freewrite. Stephen King is a strong advocate for freewriting. Good luck.
