What do you think "Heaven" is?

I know I'm opening up for a huge debate and flaming galore... so PLEASE try to be polite and use some manners. EVERYONE has their opinion of what Heaven is and EVERYONE has the right to have that opinion.
Do you have an idea of what heaven is?
My image of Heaven resembles a lot of how Heaven was in the movie "What Dreams May Come" with Robin Williams. It's basically dependent upon what your life is about and how you see perfection.

Well, since heaven is a real place I don't think that it can be dependent upon our lives on earth. We don't change what heaven is because of who we are ... no more then we can go into a house and have walls rearrange because we don't like where they are placed.
I believe the Bible's description of heaven ... there will be no more darkness there because the glory of Jesus Christ will shine brightly. I believe there will be streets of gold and that Jesus has gone and prepared a mansion for all those who believe. We will be with the angels and God for eternity! I can't wait!

I think the last part is my favorite... I could live in a mud puddle if I could do it without ever witnessing pain, sickness or sadness again! :D

I think heaven will be like the earth but only better. street of gold. hall of record where you can she how you lived, hall of wisdom to talk to god and the angels. There will be no crime or hatful people. A place to worship god.

I dont personally believe in "heaven" and I think alot of it has to do with that actual word...Heaven (the word) to me has always been a Christian thing which was fine when I walked that road yrs ago but that was then...now and for many yrs now its not a path I'm a part of....That being said though, after my lives are all complete and before I begin my "after life" I'd tend to think that my "breakroom" LOL or Summerland or "heaven" or whatever is much like What Dreams shows it as...something along those lines at least....

Can you give us some serious reason why we should not believe in heaven. I personally believe that there is God and heaven because my prays was answered in hard times. I experience that when nothing work I just have to pray and something will happen. I can't explain why. I just believe that there is a God who take care of me.

Don't you think that for the same reason "you can't explain why", Raven perhaps "can't explain why"? Most of us believe based upon Christian beliefs and the fact that we have been raised to believe Heaven and God exist. Religion is very much based upon faith.. or the belief that something exists without a solid item to hold and prove that existence.

Heaven is sitting at the beach with my family watching my children splash in the water and play in the sand and listening to the waves roll in.

I never even thought of the fragrances of heaven! I love your idea! To think of the best scents surrounding us all over. The sense of smell is so important, I cannot imagine that heaven doesn't have a scent all its own that is better then any fresh baked cookie or newly opened flower!!!!

I think that heaven is a place where we all'll go due to our good deeds in this life. We'll die and then we'll be born again and God'll tell us briefly about our good and bad deeds. People who'll have done good deeds in this life will go to the heaven which'll be full of good edibles etc. There'll b grapes, dates, rivers of milk and such bear that we'll n't loose our senses after drinking it and there'll b big houses and no one'll do any bad deed or hurt anyone in the heaven.

It's amazing to see what others think "Paradise" will be for them. It is probably proof that our "Heaven" will not be the same for any of us... because what makes one happy perhaps does not make another.
Thanks for sharing!

to me, heaven is simply being at one with spirit. To have reached the ultimate level of learning that life is no longer necessary

There is no heaven or hell. Everything in our thinking. If we want to be happy we have to think things relating to happiness. Our heart is such - anything on the earth to grow there is a time limit for them (it) to grow. But when we start thinking on any subject it will grow fraction of second beyond your imagination. Therefore we should think only good things of life than that thinking of unwanted things. By practicing we develop that idea of thinking only good things in life. If we fail to control our thinking then we will he in hell on the earth itself. On the other hand if we think only good things by practicing we will be more happy. This is my opinion.

I hope you find happiness then in your own way. I'm not so sure that I'd find much to be thrilled about if I thought this was all there was to come but I truly do respect your feelings on the subject.
So do you think that at some point in time here on earth you achieve a sort of paradise on earth then? I'm not sure how to take the "practicing we develop that idea" sentence and that's how I'm seeing what you're saying?

I think that no grammer nor language can discribe how Heaven looks like.Anything we shall discuss here shall be an assumssion.Because the bible said that What the eyes as not seen nor the ear has head are what an heaven is made up of.Lets try to do a reseach of the best city in world,And multiply it by 100 = heavenlly beauty.

some pople think that if we'll do good work then we'll go for heaven and if we'll do bad works thenheaven is not for us. but i think heaven is available on earth sometimes we feel enjoy in our life then it is heaven when no enjoy then their is no heaven .

To me, Heaven is a personal creation where I can create peace and contentment. And it is dependent on how I am perceiving it. Therefore it can be right here on earth. However, if I am negative and pessimistic, no matter how much beauty there is around, I am in the opposite (could be Hell).
As a Zen practitioner, I feel that everything has (and gives way to) its opposite, so I do not seek a heaven, or sooner or later some sort of hell can manifest itself. What I seek to do (as a form of meditation), is to be an observer of what goes on in life both good(heaven) and bad (hell) without trying to get emotionally hooked with judgement and condemnation. In Zen culture this is the path to enlightment (nirvana) Not easy though:-)

Heaven will be a place that, at last, there will be eternal Peace. No wars. No killing. No differences. No intolerance. No greed. No hatred. No rich. No poor. No illness. Everyone will be the same. It is a place where all of it's inhabitants just get along with each other.
Everyone will be welcome, as God is all forgiving.
God Bless

I would have to agree with you hockeygal4ever. I think that, logically, heaven would have to be different for every person. No two people are going to be blissfully happy in the same exact situation/surroundings. If heaven is true bliss, then it has to be different for each person. (i.e. no cats for the people who don't like them, and lots of cats for the people who do. lol)
