I bet all of you have encountered topics that seemed kinda off.
Could be about something weird or hard to believe. Or a personal sharing that seemed kind of overly exagerrated.
Do you sometimes doubt the authenicity of the discussions that people post here?
Does it occur to you that the person could probably be making up a story since noone will really know if that really happened to him/her? Just for the sake of posting a rather different or exciting topic?
I usually just go with what I read, but lately because I have seen so much of kinda weird topics, it makes me think if they really are true or somebody is just making them up for the sake of conversation.
What do you think?

I agree that some things here are probably not true. However, it doesn't really impact my life much, so I don't worry about it terribly. It is possible that these people just want more responses or maybe they are lonely. Either way, mylot is all about diversity, so let it be. Thanks for the interesting topic discussion !

Thanks for the response.
Yes it really is not that big of a deal for me either, I was just wondering whether or not I am the only one feeling that way or you guys feel that too.

Well this is a very interesting discussion, I myself was thinking the very same thing. I have seen alot of discussions here on mylot that are really off the wall.I do not believe everything that I read here on mylot, I think that alot of people here do make up things just to start a discussion and make money off of it.There are so many I will not even reply to, because I know there is no way that they are true. Some of them you will get a good laugh out of.LOL

True or not, it doesn't really matter. At least you will have something to talk about. I think that it lies to the conscience of the person posting make-up stories. But it also depends on the person reading whether s/he will believe it or just consider it as just reading a novel or some sort :).
