I think I would stay the heck out of the water and away from the water's edge!
We have a similar sign at our beach to warn tourists. Not about crocodiles, but about walking to an offshore island at low tide. It says something like, "We advise against it as you may encounter difficulties". What they really mean is the tide comes in hard and fast, the channel suddenly gets very notched and deep, and horses have been swept out to sea. Very large difficulties indeed!
