What do you think happens to your soul when you die ???

I have had two life-after-life experiences: one in a flotation tank, one after a motorcycle accident. In them I had contact with what may only be described as The Ineffable Light. In that timeless moment I felt loved and accepted as I have never before or since. What was even more wonderful was that I perceived that part of that Light was inside me, as well. That Light does not get much involved in the day-to-day mundane affairs of mankind. Instead it is both outside and inside of us, waiting to be reunited. When we do things that bring harmony and peace, we make the part of The Light inside ourselves more able to reunite. That part is what we call our souls. Sometimes our souls need more polishing and so are sent back to the material plane. Sometimes they are just right. We build the celestial temple of that Light together. That is my experience tempered with my thoughts.

Even I had an experience like this. I was under going an operation and i dont some how I remember somethings from it. I remember floating in pure white light. I was weightless and very peaceful, but I was floating through curves, I could feel that. The white light was very pure and very soft. Something so close but so out of reach, but I know I was in to some place, which place I dont know.It was so pure and so peacful that I fall short of words to explain what i experienced. I cannot say, nor do I know how or why i went through this expierence, but its still very fresh in my memory.

what will happen in my soul when i die? actually, i have no idea. i believe in heaven and hell, and ofcourse, i wish my soul will go to heaven like how others wishes the same. but i know i have to work on that and that is to do good will. i am a sinful person, i admit, for i am always do things that are against God's will. but like other human, i regret and i ask for forgiveness and try not to do it again. it is a reward thinking that whenever we do good things to others, we do good things to God too. our soul is like our body as well. we will die if we don't it. our soul needs to eat too but not like the foods we supply to our immortal body. the words of God and the teachings from the bible serves as the food for our soul. and if we lack of these, our soul will get weak. whatever will happen in our soul when we die is just a question all of us cannot answer unless we are already a soul. and when that time comes, all i pray is for me to be ready not only to face our Dear Creator but to let go everything i had on earth, family, friends and love ones. God Bless!

I have had one life after life experience and you are right that I also seen a light I was lying on a bed and my body actually lifted from the bed and I could see a light above me and within my own body, I was in hospital at the time and the nurse came in and I did hear her say that I had passed away and that she would have to call my parents, I was trying to come out of it but as you would know that you can't when this is happening anyway when she returned to the room with the doctor and some other staff by that time I had returned to my body and the poor nurse got the shock of her life but when I explained to her she was ok and wanted to know more about my experience.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. You don't need to be rude if you don't agree.

I am a strong believer in reincarnation. I believe we are all put on earth to learn some lessons in life. We do not learn all those lessons in one lifetime and hence we are born again and again until we learn them. Once we realize that particular lifetime lesson we die. That explains why people die at such different ages. The soul gets enlightened a bit in each of these lifetimes and once it reaches the ultimate stage it stops this cycle of birth and rebirth.

One can see that light, by practicing physiopsychological method called Kriya Yoga which purifies the body mind and soul by pumping in the fresh oxygen atoms in to all the chakras. The advanced practitioner can even demeterialise at will.

The Light you write of seems like it must be the Light that is Christ! He is the Light of the World and He is also inside of us, so it makes sense what you say about the part of The Light being inside yourself. I really don't know about the soul-polishing though...is that where your "thoughts" begin? I can't say that it is wrong or right, because I truly do not know for sure exactly what awaits us when we die. But I do believe that The Light of the world, Christ will be there for us to perceive in a more tangible way than we can perceive Him in this material world. Thanks for sharing your experiences!

All people have souls that are eternal. As a born again Christian, I believe if you have asked Jesus into your heart, your soul goes to heaven. If you have not, then your soul goes to hell. Its a choice we all must make, and God gives us a choice because its freewill. He doesnt want to force us to love Him. So thats is where I believe a soul goes heaven or hell whatever you choose for it.

Your spirit is returned to God's hands. Your body will turn into dust at the grave. That's what will happen to our souls when we die.

i admire your spirituality samrat. hats off. we all should be thankful for being here especially those like you who have been given another chance to be with your loved ones. i may not be a hindu, but i like the idea of reincarnation. and when i die and wasn't lucky enough like you to have another shot at life, i'd like to be a male lion. sounds weird but that's where i want my soul to rest.

I really do not know but it would be nice if someone really known.I started to wonder when my son started talking about college one month after his first words. He started putting together sentences and everything as long as he was talking about college. My dad had this old pipe and my son grabe it out of a old storage box. put it in his mouth just like he knew what it was for. He talked about his buddies and what they all did back in the day. I grab him up and took him to the doctor. He said well him is just saying things others are saying. Well we had no one around that had been a guy in college so we knew that was not it. It still didn't explain why he was doing sentences while talking about college days. Once he was 2 years old it stoped. He never talked about any of it again.unexplained. Maybe an old soul .. I still do not know..

I've always believed that all souls end up in three places: heaven, purgatory and hell. As for wandering souls that can't find peace or have unfinished business, they stay in limbo. I'd like to end up in heaven, who doesn't? I try my best not to commit major sins or wrong doings, and I do good to others whenever I can, but I'm not really sure if it's enough to bring my soul to heaven. God has His own way of measuring our worthiness, and I hope I'm worthy enough to join Him in heaven when the time comes.

According to Vedanta, what you experienced was for real. I call that Ineffable Light God, and as our true identity is spirit soul, we are part of God, and that that light inside of you is Him, as He is always with us in our hearts. This "light" or God, sort of watches us, is a witness to our activities, and He is waiting for us to wake up and realize He is there with us, and then we become reunited with Him, we remember the loving relationship we have with Him. We all are on this journey as you described, to hopefully reach the point of desiring to reunite with God, and remember Him, and our desires either take us higher on this journey, or can throw us back into material consciousness, where we begin to struggle once again, on the path of self-God-realization. Our human life is very precious, as it is meant specifically for this spiritual realization, and to waste it on animal activities, as eating, sleeping mating and defending is a great waste. The secret is to take these activities and "spiritualize" them, or "dovetail" them in service to God. Then they become pillars of freedom, instead of chains that keep us in prison. Thank you for your discussion.

I saw a city in the distance, shrouded in a mist, and a very close friend was talking with me. He kept telling me I couldn't go to the city because I wouldn't get back in time. I've seen that light you describe also; it used to be in my room when I was a young girl. It was always there to comfort me. I've come to know that great light as Jesus; and I agree, he's always with us-inside and outside all around us.

I don't know what to believe. I was raised to be Catholic so of course I want to believe that we ascend into the Kingdom of Heaven to live with God. But since I have begun studying this world myself and delving into religions for the love of reading and studying and learning purposes I have come to a few conclusions of my own. I almost believe that we are re-born again and again until we have perfected ourselves and then we can ascend to heaven. I say this because I have a wonderful boyfriend and we fit so perfectly. I swear from day one that I have known him forever. When we first met it was almost as though he sat down at the coffeeshop table and we just picked up our conversation from where we left off in our last life. Who knows? I would liket o think that we are re-born because i like this world, the good, the abd, I love the people, the good, the bad. I don't want to die, is that selfish and bad or childish of me?
