How long did it take you to get used to your digital camera when you bought it?

I just went out and bought my first digital camera and was wondering how long did it take for everyone to get used to all the features and become good at taking pictures with it? Did it take a short time or long time? What do you like or dislike about your camera? I just bought the Panasonic Lumix DMC FX 07. I am reading the manual right now. I have never used a digital camera before and could use some suggestions or any comments you can make.

It doesn't take too long normally, the hardest part is when you go to upload pictures. Once you get the hang of that all else is a cake walk. We are on our third camera HP E317. It works great but it doesn't have a maunal viewfinder so you have to use the screen which sucks batteries faster than a Hoover. I would suggest that you invest in some rechargeable batteries. We did and have used our for four years now. If you don't and use the camera a lot, you will being buying a lot of batteries.

It seems like other people have been through multiple cameras already so I feel very out of place. LOL I do have a rechargeable battery so that is not a problem. I get one free battery replacement with my extended warranty.

I am on my third digital camera and I think it usually took me a day or two of taking loads of photos, and checking them out on the viewing software on the computer. Usually you can get the broad points immediately, and then work out the subtleties as you go. Have fun, that's the nice thing about digital photography, you can either delete or manipulate the duds!

Wow. How long do digital cameras last? I was playing around with mine earlier and reading the manual and it seems to be fairly easy to use. Just need to learn the reasons and purposes of each feature. It has 21 scene modes on it as well as many other things. It is so much different than my cell phone camera or 35 mm.

Only few cellphone companies produce cellphone with in-built camera with the capability of a digital camera. It would take fairly much of space if they were to put high resolution sensor into the cellphone's camera. But it is still good for normal photo shooting. Kodak's digital cameras are easier to use compared to other brand.

I hear that Kodaks are pretty nice cameras. I am doing okay so far with my camera. I am going to practice with my camera and try the different features. I find practicing helps me learn things better.

I just got a kodak easy share camera about 2 weeks ago and it is awesome! I went into my daughter's room the first night that we got it and just aim it at her bed(since we couldn't see in the dark) and took the picture and it is perfect of her! It looks as if the lights were on and in reality the room was pitch black! So awesome!!! But on the other stuff I am still getting use to it. I had to read the manual, and that did help some.

I bought my first one in 1999. I was so excited! Of course it was a very simple camera so it did not take me more than a few shots to get accustomed it. I now own a new camera which is also very simple and it only took like a day. It is best to read all about the camera, then take a lot of practice shots different ways. The cool thing is you can erase whatever you do not like, then only download the picture you like. my new one is also a video so I played with all the features on the camera for the first day. I didn't mess with putting any photos on my computer until several days later. Good luck and have fun!

It didn't take long to learn how to take pictures and how to install the software on the computer and such. I know my camera can take videos, but I never bought it for that, so don't even know how to do that and would have to hunt for the instruction manual. I also know, you can use other features to "be more like a professional photographer", but I just like the auto-point-and-shoot features of my camera...easy and quick. It is a Sony cybershot, my first, and I just love it.

It didn't take me long to get adjusted to my digital camera , I started taking pictures the same day . I have had it for a couple of years now and still don't believe that I read the manual fully . Most digital camera's are the same and they all have some features that are similar . Mine is a very basic digital camera so I don't have to worry about a bunch of buttons that I am probably never going to use as I find that most people get caught up in this with getting features they will never really use and it jacks up the price for their camera just to make it look nicer . I have always found just skimming the book was enough . Best of luck and have fun with your camera as I have never regretted getting mine and I love to take pictures with it .

I think I may not be able to get use to my camera. I own a compact digital and two prosumers. All of them have a lot of different features that I need to learn. Even after a year, I still read the manual, to get the best out of the gadgets, to make my money worth! What you see is what you get is not true when it comes to digicams. Every picture needs readjustments by the software provided. So, never be disappointed by the pictures you have taken. Some digicams even have the filmware where you can edit the pictures before uploading them to your PC. Whatever you do, be patient with the gadget. It needs to be tweak to produce good pictures!

i have had mine three years now and i dont think i will ever get used to it. For example, after three years of usage, yesterday i worked out that i actually have a zoom in and zoom out button on it. Two weeks ago I worked out that i could actually film with it. Now, how sad is that? blessed be

10 minutes! Thats the most... And really half of the time I spent on the gizmo is before I pay for it. That is to ensure incase it cut conks out i know its not worth buying anyway... i dont read booklets and guides that come with the cam or mobile or anything.. I like to get my experience hands on.

I got my digital camera last November and still haven't figured out the features! I keep reading my manuel, but then forget how to do certain things. It would be so much easier if there was a person to show me....I am much more a visual learner.

The first time i bought a digital camera about 4 yrs ago, i religiously read and studied its manual to get the hang of its features. I guess that would always be the secret to enjoy any unfamiliar gadget. It took me about 2 days to do so. i just tried taking some pics based on the instructions as a practice. well, practice makes perfect they say..so, i just did that. Just 3 months ago, i bought a new Sony 6MP. I chose 6MP so that the file wouldn't be too big to upload. It's usually a little more than 1MB/pic. Im still trying to try its features till now coz i usually don't have time to use it. Anyway, it just have a little more features than my former ones.

well...you are doing it right..... on purchasing something that I dn know how to carry on with, or how to opertae --the very first thing I do is read the manual very very carefully.... still If I don't get it ...then I take the gadgeet alongwith the manual, and do the stepwise reading, while perforing the intructions simultaneously.... making things turn up easy.... and well I already knew how to operate a digi cam as my friend had one earlier and i used to use it...so when I got mine, I didn't had much of a trouble!!!

It took 1 week for me to get use with my first digital camera. As you bought the second, third and so on it usually does not exceed 1 day. But it depends on how much is the different between your first and your subsequent digital cameras. Most of the digital cameras in the market offers almost fimilar features. Although the firmwares are different.
