Hi Yanji.....
Its a sad fact that since the home computer came into fashion people do not hand write letters ant more.
Also the mobile phone probably has had a hand in this too.
Speaking from experience, and I do still hand write some letters, its a very gratifying thing to be hundreds of miles away from home and receive a letter from a loved one.
When I was in the armed services and hundreds of miles from home it was always exciting to hear my name called out on 'mail call' and look quickly at the letter to recognise the handwriting as being from my Mum, sister or girlfriend. Much better than seeing a typed addressed envelope.
So I say keep hand writing your letters specially to those loved ones....theres more an expression of love in ones handwriting!

The last time I sent and received hand written letters was about 5 years ago. Now I exchange e-mails with my friends who live far away.
Oh, we also have a tradition in our family to send postcards by mail to my husband's parents who live in the Ukraine. We also receive postcards from them on different occasions like our birthdays and New Year.

Yes, I do. It makes it so much more personal don't you know. I remember every time I recieve a letter or anything handwritten; it makes me feel special as it is intended to. I hope that people get in the habit in the futre to do so, it will just make people in general more literate and kind.

I don't get handwritten letters anymore. Every once in awhile I'll recieve one from my gf with a gift or something, but for the most part, I don't get handwritten letters. I think we just find it so much easier to send emails.

It was the three years ago,I received a long letter from one of my friends. In Turkey, boys making his millitary service, receive letters from his parents, girlfriends and vives. He sends to the parents and girlfriend his photos taken in military, poets written in cold winter nights or hot summer nights. They talk about military service, his new friends there, what they did all the week and weekend. Those make their parent happy.I still love writinf long letters to my friends.Oneday,I wrote 26 pages letter to my friend and she read it all the day.I have a letter box that I received and kept my old letters.Sometimes I read them and I am affected deeply as I am a little bit romantic.Today, emails and sms messages replaced the letters. As the technology grows as rapidly as today's,we'll forget about the meaning of the "letter" word and erase it from our dictionaries.

its been six years since I wrote a handwritten letter. I used to write about my son to my father in law. then my brother in law bought a computer now I keep mailing him pictures and videos of my son.
when my daughter was born, I asked him to write a letter by hand just like the one he had written for my son's birth. He did write one a long and detailed. I have kept bothe letters in a safe boxs and I hope when my kids are grown up they would make an effort to read it too.

Wow, you are.. classic. :D Anyway, i don't write letters anymore. I used to write letters a lot back when i was in high school. I went to boarding school since i was thirteen, so i kind of used to write letters a lot. But i don't anymore though.
These days i realized i even hardly write with pen and paper anymore. Sigh, how computer has changed me. Lol.

Yep! I still write by hand! I have an old fashioned fountain pen for that... not the one with cartridges, but one you really have to fill up! I send letters to friends and my sister in Norway, scribble funny little notes to my husband and sign all my printed business letters with this fountain pen.
I am not sure what you mean by hand written paper though, yanjiaren...;

I don't hand write a lot of letters anymore but when I do it's usually with close friends or family members. Handwritten letters are wonderful because they have such a personal touch to them and ,to me, part of the essence of the person seems connected with the letter.
I think it's sweet that you send your husband handwritten letters with your poetry, he must really cherish those letters. My husband and I often write notes to eachother on special occasions like birthdays or our anniversary and the notes he's written to me are very special.

I am guilty for overlooking the importance of sending a hand written letter rather than typing it down on my PC. With my busy lifestyle, I thought that typing down is easier for me to finish one letter before heading on to the next one. I spent mostly chatting with friends and sending emails which is rather a very convenient thing for me. It was a way for me to keep updated on what's happening to my friends and love ones. :)

Well, I no longer write in hand nowadays. If I want to write a letter, I will just type it down using my personal computer and later print it and post it. But if I am sending a card, I will always make sure it is hand written. It shows that we still have a personal touch and we do care to the person we wish to give the cards. But when I am writing the address for the envelope, I still use my own hand-writing because it is much quicker that way. Only if I have to write on many envelopes, I will print and stick the printed address. I guess I opt for the quickest method to save time.

I just never do really anymore. I use email and telephone but as postage goes up, I think it will be more rare when people actualy do.
I cut back on all that when the postage got so much higher and I dont think it will ever come down now. It will just continue to increase.

No, I don't write letters any more, usually I email. I don't even use the home phone anymore it's always my cell. I guess it's just easier. The response is faster, I guess I don't like to wait on the letters. It's good to write though it seems more personal.

Yes, I do still receive a few hand written letters...generally from older friends/family. I try to send some special hand written letters....but most people have a hard time reading my writing so I try to type all of my letters, but make each one individual, personalize each instead of just copying what I have said from one person to another....which is so easy to do with the computer these days.

i send birthday cards and christmas cards to my close friends. if i don't get to do that, then i'll just send an e-card hehe. sometimes i get so tied up with things that i just don't have the time, although i do mean to get the cards posted on time. but yeah, it is nice to get a handwritten letter or a card from someone^___^
