Can women have successful careers and a large family?

As I will soon graduate college and begin a career, I find myself thinking about this question often. I would love nothing more than to have a large family, but I am also determined to go to law school and work at a large firm. How does one manage having a family and a career? My mother stayed at home with my siblings and me through out our childhood and put her career on hold. Is it possible to be successful at both things? Can anyone provide advice or share personal experiences?

Do you plans of getting married soon? I put my career on hold because I want to see my child grow up the other reason is that I'm not sure if we'll have another child after our first because we're not so financially blessed. That's my choice because I grew up with my grandparents while my parents are in another place working on their business. It's though to adjust when my mother decided she wants to stay home with us instead, I became aloof of her presence and we argued a lot. There are times when a woman can't really mix career and family, still a woman can still work but not focus too much on climbing the corporate ladder for sure she would've have to sacrifice her time with her kids. I'll go back to work when my son starts school. Just my POV.

Well I know that you can have both, a successful career AND a big family, I know it because my Mom is a lawyer, she can get quite busy sometimes but then again, the youngest one in the family is 22 years old...
