Scholastic just released the book cover art for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows on the Today show this morning. Deathly Hallows is released July 21, 2007.
I'm so excited! It just makes it all seem more real, seeing what the book is actually going to look like when I have it in my hand, and it looks like it's going to look amazing. It looks like Voldemort is on the back cover of the US version, while Harry is on the front, and Harry, Ron and Hermione are on the front cover of the UK kids version, and the mysterious locket on the adult version. And, on the UK version, they have the book summary as well!
If you guys want to see the various covers for yourself, go here:

Oh Cool. I haden't seen that yet. It's interesting that Harry looks so much older in the UK cover art (The kids version).
It's cool that it's so long, but you know there are people who will have it read pretty quickly. Looks like I might have to stay away from the internet till I finish for fear of getting spoiled :-)
I'm a pretty fast reader, but I do have to go work...that is unless I figure out how to call out "reading". LOL!

haha, I've called out "reading" the past two weeks. Or, more acurately, I made sure to take off that weekend. And then I stay up all night reading the book while ingesting lots of caffeine, and then crash. I'm usually done by 8 in the morning.
And it is weird, how Harry looks so old. On another message board, someone said that they thought he looked like he was 40 lol!

Wow! Seeing the cover makes me excited to buy the book, sadly it's out of my budget and I don't want to pay a reservation fee just to be the first to get my hand on the book. I'll probably wait for a month before I buy the 7th book.

Wow, really? You think you'd be able to wait that long? I'd be too afraid of the plot being spoiled for me to wait that long.
And I also haven't had to pay any reservation fees any of the times I reserved the book. Barnes and Noble also has it for relatively cheap. You should look around, see what you can find. It might be worth it.

Okay, I am a terrible person. The new cover just does not do much for me. It's just blah. I liked the Order of the Phoenix one better. I mean it is just Harry standing there with his arm up. The UK one sounds cool though.
That said, I can't wait for the book to get here. I may actually pre-order this one.

Really? Cus I gotta say, I absolutely adore it. I love the colors, and everything feels so intense, just looking at it. The UK one is ok, but Harry looks so old, and there's just something I don't particularly like about it

These are very interesting. I'm intrigued by all the covers and my little brain is trying to work all the covers together and trying to piece together what may happen in the book! I'm extremely excited for the book now even if it is the last one.

I know! I've been trying to work everything out ever since I've seen it! I just want to know where Harry and Voldemort is, and why Harry, Ron, and Hermione are surrounded by treasure in the UK version, and why it looks like they're bursting out of something, and why they have those horrified expressions on their faces. Hermione looks like she's reaching for something, and I want to know what!

Wow!! This is so wonderful! Thank you very much for this piece of information. I really am getting impatient day by day to get hold of this last book. By the way, the US version seems to have Voldemort and Harry facing each other without a wand!!! That's most surprising!!! What are they both doing together if not fighting each other?
I don't like the look of the UK adult version with just the Slytherin locket... it is so unnerving? and the UK kids version puts a lot of questions in our mind...
Oh. They've already started the printing stages? That means the big day is near.... yaaaaahooooooooo....

yeah, Voldemort and Harry both seem to be looking and reaching towards the same thing, although Voldemort seems a little more fearful of it than Harry does. Harry is also wearing the locket, it seems. Plus, with all the timber, and the curtains, I really would like to know where this is taking place. I also love the color of the sky. I don't like the UK kids version, just because I don't think the art is all that great. I really think they could have gotten a better artist for it. Even if it does look like a lot of other childrens book covers, this is not a typical childrens book. They should have gone all out.

I'm indecisive because I've read the 1-6 books in my own mother language, however I don't think I could resist and for the first time I will read the book in english.

I don't think I could resist, either! I just wouldn't be able to wait one day longer than I'd absolutely had to.

That is really great to know. It makes it seem more real that the time is getting closer to release day! My stepson thinks it's hilarious that I keep mentioning how much longer until it is out.
I know that these were really written for people younger than me, but I just can't help getting caught up in the stories!
I hope that all the loose ends will be tied up in this one. I would hate to be left hanging on anything with no more books to look forward to!
Did it mention anywhere how many pages this one is going to be? I would guess it would be pretty long. Just answering all the questions readers have would take a bit.

The American edition of Deathly Hallows will be 784 pages, but that includes all pages, including the chapter index, and the "about the author" page. The English edition will be 608 pages.
And JKR has said repeatedly that she never wrote these books soley for children! So many adults read and enjoy them. My grandfather, who is 81, reads them! It's so easy to get caught up in the story, and I think it transends generations. It's for everyone!

When I was going to pre-order the book, I saw a really plain cover. I knew that couldn't be the cover of the final book. This cover looks alot more like a real cover. On the UK version of the cover, there many weird creatures around Harry. I wonder what those are and the link they play to the story...

It's Harry, Ron, and Hermione, surronded by lits of treasure, it looks like. There's also what looks to be Harry's Patronus, and a snake in a crystal ball on the sleeves of the cover, but I don't see lots of creatures...
Yeah, when they first started taking pre-orders, they didn't have a cover yet, so it was just the black cover with the title. Haha, I would have been upset if that was just the cover.

Oh wow! I can't believe the last book is almost here. I'm so excited! The cover looks awesome. This reminds me though that I'm going to have to repurchase my copies of books 1-5... I got all of those in paperback and that just isn't going to suffice!

I'm so excited, too! And there is something about having the hardcover versions of the books. It just makes such a difference for some reason.
