A horror movie is a movie that is meant to scare you.A thiller is a movie that is meant to keep you in suspence, keep you guessing. True a horror film can keep you guessing. But a true thiller doesn't scare you, it is suspenceful. The Friday 13th films are horror films. Basic Instinct is a thiller. And the original Psycho is both a thiller and a horror film.

Thriller is more edge of your seat type thing, whereas horror is more make you jump out of your seat.
Psycho is an excellent example of a thriller, not really make you jump scary, but scary just the same.
On the other side of the coin movies like the Nightmare on Elm St. series are horror, they make you jump and scare you at points, but not actually truly scary.

I think thillers are more psychological and horror movies are more visually frightening. A thiller is one that is suspensful and you think to yourself "whats gonna happen next" and you get some adrenaline rush from it. And horrors are movies like Nightmare on Elm Street where there is not much thinking required but it is still very scary because there are so many scary, gory images that make us cringe and jump

For me, Horror Movies are those that really scares you while Thriller Movies, as implied, bring thrill to you or it will make you think and maybe brings puzzle to your head.
Horror or Thriller movies, however, are best described by the viewer since a movie maybe a horror to you but for me it appears to be just a fool movie, if you get what I mean.
Each person has his own preference or taste :)
