Will you give cellphone to your young children?

Cellphones right now are not a Luxury item anymore its a necessity so i would say yes...

I think I would give my children cellphones at the age of above 10, not earlier. That wouldn't be some expensive phones, just something simple. What is the most important, I would try to limit their calls. There are special programs offered by the cellphone companies where children are allowed to talk only on a certain sum. I would try to explain to my kids that I gave them the cellphones not for playing, but to be in touch and so that I would know where they were during the day.

I gave my 9 year old an Emigo, she can call me, her father, the house or 911. Thats it. I figure that way she is covered if she needs help, but can't make use broke with the phone bill. :D

I only give my cellphone to my child when he is going somewhere-like the mall- and i want to be able to get in touch with him throughout the day. i also give it to him when he has out of town basketball games so he can call for a ride home. in general, he doen't get a cell phone on a daily basis.

hey!!! i think that u r wrong here.....coz, yhere is no need of such communication , coz ur child might b living not more than 6-8 hrs away frm u , ...in 2days world there is a disadvantage of being rich, coz rich parents give more than the reqrd. facilities ,of which the children make negative use.....so now its up 2 u wether 2 give a cellphone 2 ur child or not...

My 6year old has a cellphone. We make sure she takes it with her when we go shopping, or when she's with other people. (anytime we're not home) She can push 1,2,3,4. that's all . We have the numbers set up. That way she'll be able to someone if there's an emergency. I think that most parent give their children phones to keep up with them. You never know what's going to happen.
