I read it sometimes. I believe that it is indeed God's way to steer us in the right direction but not the only way God has of doing this. I don't like when the Bible is used to justify hatred or repressive practices (slavery, homophobia). It is better if we leave the judging to God.

I am a Christian. I read the Holy Bible. I follow the doctrines or teachings of the Christian religion laid down in the Holy Bible. God talks to us thru the Holy Bible and therefore it is necessary that we read the Holy Bible. We talk to God thru our prayers. That's how communication works with God.

I've read the Bible, as well as the major books of many other religions. I believe in being informed, and I love learning about other people's beliefs.
However, I am not a Christian, so I feel no more attachment to the Bible than I do to religous books of other religions I have read. Parts of it are horrific, while other parts are lovely. In particular I really admire a lot of the things Jesus said, but they carry no more weight for me than if anyone else had said them.
Oh, in case anyone wonders when reading this, I'm a Celtic Reconstructionist, which is a form of Pagan.

For someone who is new to myLot, you sure know how to open up with a deep topic. For that, I give you a + rating.
I am Jewish...a Torah Keeper. That means, that what's ever in the bible is what we try to follow.
How people can sit there and say the bible never existed that it's stories that man wrote are partly true. The original bible was written in Hebrew. Unless you're reading it in Hebrew, you're reading an interpetation from man. That can get very deadly if you don't know how to study the Word. For a more interresting tool, use the online Strong's Concordance. There, you'll see how the bible is meant to be read...a translation from Hebrew.
A good example of how man screwed with the words is John the Baptist. It says he had a tunic made from Camel's hair...that's wrong. He was the son of a Levite priest...why on earth would he wear something that was unclean? It's a poor translation of the word.

I read the Holy Bible, not because I'm a Roman Catholic but I agree with the stories written there. The Bible is composed of several books and letters from people who had been witnesses to Jesus' life here on earth. His life story happened thousand years ago. If you have read the Bible, you will not have any regrets if Catholicism is the right religion for you. The book will teach you good deeds. Everything there is about having good ways of life. Or shall I say, it will guide you how you are going to deal with your ups and downs as a person. There's really nothing wrong with that. Everything is in a white plain. It's such an awesome experience to read the Holy Bible. Live your life religiously. Just believe God.

I don't read the bible. It isn't God's commumication with the people, it is people's interpetation of what they think God is.
I don't understand how people can believe something that has been retold so many times before being written down and then translated so many times that the meaning of the words have been changed.

I read the Bible. I believe it is God's Word. I believe the historical accounts are true. More and more evidence has been found that proves the Bible correct than untrue.
