Did you see the news today where it says that over 45 million people may have been affected by debit and credit card fraud after shopping at TKMaxx which has stores in GB, Ireland and America??! Apparently since 2002 our card details have been open to fraudulent use by people unknown!! How scarey is that?! And that's from using your card to pay for things in the shop. So has this affected you, have you checked your bank statements and found any strange transactions that you didn't make. Just how secure is it paying by card these days?? Where do we go from here, do any of you have the answer to this type of fraud??

No I don't have a store like that here, but I feel very sorry for those people who have been hit by this terrible card fraud. What a horrible thing to happen, boy we really need to keep alert with our credit cards these days. There were a group of people who came over to NZ from overseas and ripped off a lot of people with credit card fraud, could even have been same people involved who knows. Thanks for the interesting item.

OMG! I haven't shopped in the ones in Ireland, but I have shopped in the ones in the UK loads of times since 2002. I used always go in there for a few bits and pieces to bring home as souvenirs and gifts for birthdays and stuff. The thing is, that I have used my own credit cards and my hubby's and I never bother to check the statements. I haven't even got all the statements as I shredded them before we moved into our new house. I will just have to check the ones I have got to see if there are any unusual transactions on them. That's really scary and I probably won't sleep to-night until I check the statements. Thanks for the warning, it is just as well to be careful.

Yes it affected me and my husband. We were both issued new cards. Needless to say I will not be shopping there again! They canceled our cards right away, thankfully. But it was a big inconvenience. But I'm happy that my bank took appropriate action though!

My statement does not reflect anything fraudulent. I heard it on the news a couple of days ago. That is scary, you would think a big company like TJ Maxx would have a better security system. I guess the best way to avoid this problem is to use cash.

havent checked yet but did hear them talking on the radio. As you say is there any safe way of transacting these days. The scammers seem to be able to work out a way to get at money in whatever form we have it. Will have a look now and get back to you.

I don't even know what they sell at TK maxx.
So, NO I don' t worry about that.
I always check my statements VERY carefully, to make sure that I did recieve ALL of those goods and services.
If I did, then no prob. If even one of em is false or I don't remember what it was for, drunk maybe? Then I would call and see what the item was. Like if it says $350 for shirts, that wasn't me. I buy $5 shirts at the thrift store.

Hi there long time no see how are you
Well I have never liked the Store so not shopped in there, but that is certainly bad News and how will this affect the Store now? I am glad that I only pay in cash due to the fact I have no debit or Credit Card.

the best thing about this for me is that my creditcard is a pre-paid card and if I lost it or someone tried to use it other then me once they ran out of money in which I dont keep alot on it they could not use it after that so it would do them any good.

That's so scary! How can something like this happen? I'm not one of those who got affected but this is truly something I should be wary of as well. Thanks for the information and heads up! I wish government units can come up with more efficient ways of tracking fraudulent measures!

Hello my friend. This is a shame that a big chain like this has their security system so weak that their customers are now at risk for theft. Something really needs to be done to stop this. Shame on them!
