I'm part Native American myself, and I actually started my crafting business by making Dreamcatchers--a few years ago, it seemed every single catalog you picked up sold dreamcatchers--I longed to buy them myself, but as usual my funds were low...then somewhere in my mind it dawned on me to make my own--at that time I didn't even know that there were kits to make them which was just as well, as the ones I make myself are very unique--one thing lead to another..I don't only make dreamcatcher, but a whole variety of Native American themed crafts, including jewelry
The Dreamcatcher legend is a beautiful one, the idea that the web catches the bad dreams and lets your good dreams go through to the heavens to be answered--Usually when a child is born it is customary to make a dreamcatcher and hang it nearby near the baby for good luck
there's a website that presents the whole story of the dreamcatcher

Thanks for the info, I appreciate it. I am going to tell my sister about the dream catcher over the baby bed because my niece had a baby and it was born with cystic fibrosis and it has no cure for it so far it is a lung disease so maybe having a dream catcher over her bed will help her some..hopefully. Thanks.

When i was younger my grandmother helped me and my sister put together some dreamcatchers. To be honest when my grandmother told me what they were for i was totally sceptical but after putting it together and then going home i decided to go ahead and put it on my wall above my bed. I would say good night to my mom and say a prayer and then lay down. Now mind you before i even went to my grandmas i was having terrible nightmares about my mother dieing or being murdered and also about myself being cut. So i was hopeufll that this would help me but i doubted it very much. But low and hold it did help me i stopped having nightmares and i loved the way my dream catcher looked in my room.

I am glad to hear that it worked for you but not surprized by it working. I have heard many other people that have told me that they have slept better without bad dreams when they ahd the dream catchers above their beds.

I love dream catchers I buy them not really ever made one I love native american stuff and I love collecting it. Mine I put in my front room with the other native american stuff I have. But after reading a few post seems to me that I will be putting one in my room because I have tons of bad dreams always have, so maybe me putting one in my room will help does it matter that they are cheap ones and not really made by a native american but by a factory? Well thanks.
