Yoga is great and I've been practicing it for years, long before it became very popular. I recently became a Reiki healer and it is very complimentary to yoga practice.

yup. Yoga is very very important. yoga has been a strength of a human for many years. Yoga (Devanagari: ???) is one of the six schools of Hindu philosophy, focusing on meditation as a path to self-knowledge and liberation. Hindu texts establishing the basis for yoga include the Upanishads, the Bhagavad Gita, the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, the Hatha Yoga Pradipika and many others.[1][2] In India, Yoga is seen as a means to both physiological and spiritual mastery. Outside India, Yoga has become primarily associated with the practice of asanas (postures)of Hatha Yoga(see Yoga as exercise),although it has influenced the entire dharmic religions family and other spiritual practices throughout the world. [1] A committed practitioner of yoga is referred to as a yogi, yogin (masculine),or yogini (feminine). An master of yoga is referred to as siddha. Yoga as a combination of physical, mental and spiritual exercises has been practiced for over 5,000 years.[3].Since the Bhagavad Gita was written, the main branches of Yoga have been classified as: History of Yoga.5,000 year old carvings from the Indus Valley Civilization depict a figure that archaeologists believe represents a yogi sitting in meditation posture. The figure is shown sitting in a traditional cross-legged yoga pose with its hands resting on its knees The discoverer of the seal, archaeologist. Sir John Marshall, named the figure Shiva Pashupati. The first known written reference to yoga is in the Rig Veda, estimated by the western scholars to be at least 3,500 years.Etymology :is a derivation of Proto-Indo-European yugam, from a root yeug- (Sanskrit yuj-) meaning "to join" or "unite";cognate to Latin iugum and modern English yoke. The term is attested since the Rigveda in the sense of "act of yoking, joining, attaching, harnessing" but also "undertaking, business, performance". A mental sense of "exertion, zeal, diligence" is attested since the Mahabharata, and the spiritual or mystical sense of "abstract contemplation, meditation" likewise appears in the Mahabharata as well as in the Upanishads.

I think that yoga brings great relief when you are stressed, its a very healthy thing to do with yourself. I've heard leading health care people say that it is more of a spirtiual and emotional thing, it helps you destress and get your emotions under control.

Yes,you are correct.Importance of yoga is increasing day by day.Though yoga is Indian in origin,we are not aware of it.Foreigners are more interested in it and learning it.I am also practicing yoga.It can purify your mind and body.Getting a good yogic guru is the main problem. If we learn it from a improper teacher, the result will be negative. Now yoga is a part of our school syllabus.

Quite a self contradictory statement it is: "Yoga - the new age fitness mantra", because Yoga is not new age at all. It's just that the benefits of the same are being discovered again. An ancient Indian philosophy, the principles of Yoga are timeless, holding true as much in today's time as it did centuries ago.he various yogic poses that give your body flexibility, strengthen the muscles and even reduce fat build-up. More importantly many asanas or poses are aimed at improving the blood circulation and functioning of specific organs in your body. Keeping in mind your body's specific needs, you can work out a set of asanas for yourself.
