wHy do people hate Sanjaya?

I think people don't like him because there are many other singers that have been voted off already that were so much better than him. However, it is what America likes and they like this kid. He has a great personality and the little pre-teens will love him because of his age and smile. He is very innocent, which is also a breath of fresh air compared to all the other cocky male contestants.

I don't hate Sanjaya...I'm just very disappointed with him. I actually really liked him in the beginning, but he just hasn't been performing up to par. I believe he does have some talent, he just doesn't know how to use it yet. Just like Chris Sligh who was kicked off last week. He had talent, but no rhythm...he didn't know how to use his talent. It seems like we've seen a lot of great people go this year that I think should have had the change to stay on a bit longer. But like it has been said, this is what America wants!

I don't hate Sanjaya-- I just do not think he has enough talent to be there still- I hate to see other singers leaving before him when they are better than him. He is young still-- with some work he could be great! But he's not right now- I think people just get angry that he is still there and other people that are alot better are going home. Every year America picks someone they don't think is worthy- Sanjaya is it!

I don't hate him but I do agree that he should have been long gone. I can't believe he made it to the top 12 let alone the top 10. But, those little girls keep voting him in so it's time for the American puplic to vote him off. The only way we can do that is to vote over and over for our favorites. Oh, the voting over and over,oh..... that a whole new subject for discussion.

It is natural. Everyone has a favorite contestant and if they are better and somebody less than 'em in talent knocks those off, they would get better. After all at the end of the day it is competition. If it was not a competition then it would okay. I love his personality but not sure of singing. I guess the idol should have both elements at its best.

Personally, I do not hate Sanjaya Malakar, I actually find him very nice and I think he's also got a good voice - because if he hadnt got a voice in the first place, Simon wont say 'Yes' in his first audition, right?? I think the people's disappointment regarding the elimination of singers the likes of Steph and Sundance ignited all these 'ire' for Sanjaya... In each week the upset is carried over the other and the blame is put to Sanjaya, because though a lot of people vote for him, a lot of people too think otherwise. Let's just always remember that the American Idol is a 'people's vote show' so whoever the majority decides to remain will remain.. Sanjaya's got nothing to do with that - he's just performing and he's just offering himself to the public... If there are people who like him, it's not his fault...

I think hate is too strong of a word to use. I think that people who watch American Idol do not look at the next American Idol as someone who may be cute, or have a nice smile, and there are true expectations and standards that most who watch the show believe the contestants need to consistently uphold. Sanjaya does not consistently perform well or even close to good. He has destroyed every song he's tried to take on, and has consistently delivered sub-quality performances, making most of America question how is he making it through each week--is it the teeny-boppers who think he is cute and so they throw him votes weekly, is it the Indian community that identify with him so they are throwing him their support, or is it the appeal of Howard Stern to his fans that are helping him make a mockery of the television by voting for the worst performer and keeping him in the game, or is it because there is a population that wants to see the under-dog get a chance at fame? I don't know. I watch the show and I look at who can consistently deliver a song each week, who has the personality to take a song and make it their own, who will have staying power if they were to win and not become a one hit wonder if you know what I mean. Sanjaya just doesn't carry the standards that he should be scrutinized with by those voting for him. The longer he stays in, the more qualified and consistently good performers are removed from the competition--it truly is skewing the outcome of the show. As I've said Sanjaya has taken songs and botched them so bad, he is pitchy, off-key, and not even fun to watch perform. I personally though the week he did a song by "The Kinks" he looked like a hyped up kid and he messed up a great classic song with a karoake rendition of the song, but yet he made it through to the next week, and then this week comes out with a ridiculous mohawk that didn't help him in the least deliver a quality performance--yet he again made it through eliminations. Do I hate him? No, not at all. I just think there is something wrong with those throwing their support to him and maybe they can't hear to well, because his performances are not good at all--they are not even okay. And if he happens to pull off a win, I predict his cd will not sell well at all, and American Idol will lose a large fan base that will have lost interest in the show because it is obviously skewed and flawed. Popularity of the contestant has to consistently be based on talent and ability to perform. I'm a Blake, Lakisha, Melinda, and Gina fan myself. But I don't hate Sanjaya--I just don't think he sings well--he had a sweet voice in the try-out phase, but his performances now are awful and hard to watch.

In my opinion basically people hate Sanjaya because lots of them thinks he has no talent and doesn't deserve to be in the contest but I think his charms work best to those people who is voting him and I think this all writes up and sites that are against Sanjaya are promoting him more and more to stay in the game. Me personally I do find him fine..his sweet personality and I think he has talents that just need to be let out.

I don't hate sanjaya, but i think after a while he irritated me, like chicken little last year. At least to me sanjaya is for the least, better than chicken little. But it's so stupid, that people like these can enter top 12!

I don't hate him at all. He CAN sing, just not as good as the rest. He's not at fault for what's going on here on Idol and everywhere else you see it. For many reasons, I don't think it's going to be a fair competition.

I personally dont have anything about sanjaya but those who vote for sanjaya. American idol is a talent search and it just hurtful that those who have talent was been evicted from the show and its a matter of having the right tallent.

Some people might hate him but there are more who love him. Why would he still be in the show if majority hates him. I'm not really a fan of Sanjaya but it doesn't mean that I hate him.

I don't think that it is that they hate him. He just has had some bad weeks and should have been gone already. The only reason he isn't is because he has preteen and earlt teen girls voting for him because they think he is cute. This is a singing contest and when you do bad you should go. He has even forgot words and still is there. Others who were better singers are gone for forgetting words.

maybe its just a strategy made by some people to make him win...they like to gain sympathy by doing the opposite thing so that people will pity him or whatever..i seen him performed ..hes okay and seems a nice boy...but there are some who aremore talented than him...but if hes given a chance maybe he could hone his craft and be popular...at the rate hes going hes now popular..

I ne ver think of hating Sanjaya. He is a good boy , he sing in that stage because he is asked to. he is not to blame why he is up there, the judges put him because he can sing and now they are insulting him of his hair styles and the way he sings.. but sorry, still america vote for him..lucky sanjaya..

Its not that we hate him, we just dislike him because he is lacking talent. He is taken someone spot who do deserve to be their. But people are just making a fool out him. But I do love his hair.

I don't hate Sanjaya...I don't know him. But I do dislike his dimeanor, his style and his singing. He isn't that good of a singer and he needs to leave. Who do I hate? The people that are voting for him. I don't mean those people who really do like him. That's what American Idol is about-voting for the person you THINK IS THE BEST. But since the website and Howard Stearn have been encouraging people to vote for Sanjaya because he is the WORST, his ratings have gone up. I really wish there was a way to vote against someone. I would definately vote against him. He needs to go home and he needs to go now.

I've liked Sanjaya since his first audition. I think he has a great personality. I think he has a great voice, but I think he's trying too hard. He may be getting over confident because he is so popular, and I think that will hurt him. He has a great voice, but needs a little improvement. He needs to concentrate on winning the compitition because of his voice and not because of his popularity. Other than that, I like him.
