who lives upstairs from me came over to visit last night .
She has a little girl 2 1/2 years old , she loves coming here to play with my kitties and my dog .
His name is Zeus he is a black German Shepherd , and nearly ten years old . use also loves playing with the kids that come over . Even if he hears kids outside he whines and whines to go out and play with them .
Anyways they came over cause I was giving them my old couch set , and my boyfriend wans`t here yet so we`re sitting here waiting for him to come and their daughter was sitting on the floor patting ZEUS and trying to kiss and hug him when OMG ALL OF A SUDDEN ZEUS out of no where snaps at her . He bit her I COULDN`T BELIEVE IT .
I`ve had this dog for almost ten years and he has never bit anyone before .
Her MOM and DAD took her to the hospital and she ended up needing five stitches . She is fine now THANK GOODNESS ...
So I had the police here to fill out a report and he said that he knew that ZEUS has never done this before , and he left it at that but if it happens again HE`LL have to be put down ....
UNDERSTANDABILITY SO HE SHOULD BE ....
I honestly think Zeus was feeling too crowded with all the furniture and four people here and he just SNAPPED ....
I feel horrible I honestly don`t know what to say to these people , they are friends and I just don`t know what to say or do ......
Would you have him put down , or give him another chance ????

I would give him another chance as it was not the dogs fault
They have feelings and fears to
If he has never bitten before then there was a reason for him to do it
I hope this has been sorted and I do hope that you did not have to have him put down.

I wouldn't have him put down since it was the first time he's ever done anything like that. It's probably like you said, he was just feeling crowded and maybe he was on edge cause of all the people and all that action. Hopefully it won't happen anymore!

Zeus needs another chance Di,and I say this because I know him.....he had to have felt crowded, especially since he is so use to just you and him being at home.....S is never there....I think Zeus' biggest problem is that he needs more time outside to run.....I know this is hard for you to do because of your MS but there's got to be a way you can get him out throught the day and just let him run off some energy!Especially noe eith the warmer weather coming.....good luck,I know how much yu love him and I hope it never happens again!

If I was you, I would probably give him another chance because it's not entirely his fault. I'm not blaming anyone here but it's really in the nature of dog to snap sometimes so we should really take precautions even if we really trust the dog. No one knows what the dog really feels so we should be very careful at all times no matter how we know the dog.

Yes I know I feel terrible I almost don`t know what to say or do to make it better for them ....
Everyone here trusted Zeus up til now ....
I am defiantly not letting Him out when anyone is around ...
Thanks ,you are right no one knows what a dog will do I tell you it sure shocked everyone here ...
None of us seen it coming .....
I feel terrible ......

Oh yes give him another chance. Just try and not let him get too crowded. When dogs feel crowded and over whelmed the oly thing they know how to do is snap. Dogs can't tell you to get out of their face so biting is there way of letting you know they have had enough!

I know but that doesn`t excuse what He did ...
Sometimes I wish I could Speak Dog , or He could Speak Human ....
Cause thats exactly what I think happened when she went to kiss Him He barked and with her moving closer She got too close . She may have knelt on his paw .
Thanks for understanding ....

Friends and/or its singular, friend, may refer to: Partners in friendship, an interpersonal relationship between humans; also in such compounds boyfriend/girlfriend.A title, expressing by the originally personal notion of friendship a proximity or confidence towards a high authority (ruler, judge..)which had been turned into a formal status, even a rank, rather than an emotional bond, as in such court ranks as a Hellenistic (protos) philos basilikos or amicus curiae ('friend of the court') Religious Society of Friends, also known as Quakers Farah is the southeastern asian term for friend.who lives upstairs from me came over She has a little girl 2 1/2 years old, she oves coming here to play with my kitties and my dog . I would definetly give my dog another chance for one thing he is getting old. I would not let him play with children anymore. He might not mean it but he will do it again. So please keep him away from children or you will have to put him down.

the little girl probably did something to the dog,a dog like yours wouldn't hurt a fly if not provoked,in my opinion.you should give your dog a second chance.it was an honest mistake.so go easy on him.in his old age,his actions should be understood.good luck!

You have to understand that your dog is getting in to his years to , I alway put my dog's up when children come around , My big dog is the baby but my little dog will bite children his done it twice , So I keep him put up when children come around , He was a mistreated when I took him and I think that has a lot to do with it , So just to be on the safe side just put him in the other room , his most likely a good dog just getting a little old .

I would give him another chance! The dog is getting older and sometimes older dogs start getting a little more impatient, especially when it comes to being hugged and kissed by a little kid! My dog, who is 14 now, has always been the most sweetest and docile doggy imaginable, even letting my little cousins put necklaces on her and everything else... but a few months ago when my 2-year-old cousin was trying to climb on her, she growled at him and went to bite him (Luckily my little cousin jumped away in time!) If children come over to play with Zeus, make sure you tell them, "You must be gentle with the dog" and show them how to pet him. Their parents should also be teaching kids to be respectful around dogs!
Playing and running around outdoors with kids should be less troublesome, but I would still caution kids that they have to be gentle around all dogs!

We have a 5 year old german shepherd named Heidi. We got her when she was 3 1/2 and sadly the first 3 1/2 years of her life were spent as a guard dog in not the best conditions. She is a lot calmer now and we have a one year old son who she loves! She has never been aggresive toward him, but twice she barked at my friend's son who is 4 and once she nipped at the bottom of my cousin's son who I think is 5. In all of these instances I think she felt crowded and wanted to protect her space. Also, whenever she is properly introduced to adults or kids in a calm environment she is perfectly fine thereafter, even if her tail is pulled or something. My son pulled her wiskers the other day; she whined but did not do anything aggresive.
Zues should definitely get another chance, and maybe, if the girl feels up to it, reintroduce her to Zues in a neutral place, like a park. I know Heidi is a lot less protective when it is not her own home.

yeah, you should give him another chance, we really don't know why he did it. Zeus might have misinterpreted the child's actions, Zeus might have felt being attacked or there are stages in dog's life that they will be aggressive,it's their nature. just like us(humans), sometimes we misinterpret someones actions. generally,we think that all of the people behind bars are criminals, but the fact is there are still innocent prisoners. there are so many reasons why he did it. we just can't find the answer and everyone deserves a second chance.

i will say give him another chance... even the police says to give him another chance before they will put him down... but i will be extra careful in the future when he is around kids and i will try my best to make sure that the same incident won't happen again... i know you feel bad to your friend upstairs but it is not really your fault and you can't control it... i'm glad that nothing is wrong with the child though...

I would give him another chance. As you said he was probably feeling a bit crowded. I would definately watch him around young children though. He probably feels real bad about what he did. I had a red cattle dog that did the same thing and we found out when we took him to the vet that he had a heart condition and had to go on medication. He had only snapped as he wasn't feeling the best. Once he was on heart medication he was much better but sadly we only had him for 6 months after that as the medication made him swell so much that we had to get him put down as the vet said he could have burst. He had lost the quality of life he used to have.

Zeus is getting on in years and possibly she did something that you couldn't see, like step on a foot or tail or put too much weight on something that hurt. At 10, a shepard could be developing arthritus. they are also frequently bother by that hip displasia & that can hurt with only a little weight on it.
Our dog was 4 when she snapped & bit a little girl, but we think the girl landed on her bad leg (she broke it before she was rescued & it healed wrong.)

Yea that is what I think happened , I think she knelt down on his foot plus being crowded in a small living room with three adults and her daughter . A little overwhelming for him ....

i wouldnt put him down but keep an eye on him. i wouldnt let him around kids for awhile to make sure there is nothing else wrong. it could have been he felt crowded and that is why he snapped.

I would give him another chance. I also have a 9 year old German Shepherd. As she is getting older I noticed she is also getting a little more aggressive towards people(mostly children) when they walk past the house, she barks and jumps at the door. More than before. You might have to keep a closer watch on him when children are around. good luck.
