Would you get a tattoo?

Would you get a tattoo? Or, do you already have one. I would only get a temporary one. I'm afraid I won't like the permanent ones once the color fades. Or, I'll get bored of the design or not like it where I had it put. How about you?

I would like to have a tatto of my nickname " Da Freakest Freak", somewhere on my body where it suits for me. I'll have one pretty soon and i'll love to have one too, that, on my body. I like tattos and having one won't hurt except when getting one. ;)

He he. I hope you like having that for the rest of your life. I think it would be funny when you are 80 and it's still readable. I wonder if people in the future will know what it means?

I've heard you can get faded tattoos touched up, so I wouldn't worry about that. As for me, though, I don't have one yet, but I'd like to get one someday.

I hope you get one that you really like. Be sure you choose carefully, that's all I say. Good luck!

Oh, I know. I've thought about what I want a LOT. There's actually a couple tattoos I'd like to have.

They aren't really my thing. I wanted to get plugs in my ears when I was younger but as I got older I grew out of the idea, so I guess it was for the better that I didn't. As for tats, I admire the artwork and artists but I don't think I could really bring myself to get inked and have something stuck to me permanently. Right now there is nothing in my life that warrants a permanent marking. Two of my older sisters have some lame tattoos on them, like stars and Care Bears. Yeah don't ask I don't know why. While my younger brother has a few tats in memory of fallen family members and friends. My mother tells him, "nobody else better die!" But he gets them mainly because his friend does the artwork so he gets them for cheap and or free.

Thanks for sharing your story. Care Bears, huh? Well, they're pretty cute!

I would like to have a tattoo because I think they look cool, but I don't know what I would get... and I am a little afraid of the pain. If I was going to get one, I would probably get it on the side of my thigh, near my ankle.

I like to get the temporary ones on the inside of my ankle or forearm. The problem is that people seem to react to them strange at work, so putting them where they are visible probably isn't good. I got some good temporary ones from a bike enthusiast and they looked really good.

Getting a tattoo on your calf - near your ankle might not be a good idea if you don't hadle pain too well - aparently, the ankle is the 2nd worst place to get one done as it is straight on to bone :) The worst being the rib cage! If you decide to get one, go with your shoulder blade - they don't hurt much at all there coz that area isn't as sensitive & like the ankle - it can still be covered easily if you need to :) Hope that helps AngelNicki :)

I thought about it some. I was thinking maybe a small tribal on my upper arm. If I ever do it, I'm going to be very fussy about who does it though. After all, I'm stuck with it. There is a guy in my area, someone I've known for years. He is probably the only one I would let do it. I've seen his work and it's top notch. He's been tattooing for almost 30 years.

I don't want to have a permanent tattoo, because I cannot be able to donate blood, and help others with the use of my bloody blood. The process of putting a permanent tattoo is so painful, and I won't look neat having a tatoo on any part of my body. Maybe a Henna tattoo would be good, it lasts for just 1 week and if I get bored on the design, I can easily change it. Or maybe, White board marker is my last resort...LOL

He he, markers actually sound like a good idea. Perhaps I may try it. I forgot about the blood donation part of it. I know they won't let you if you have a tattoo. I can't right now, anyway, due to health problems. I don't have enough blood to give right now.

I agree, if that's what people want to do, then I have no say. Personally, I also don't like it when people are covered by tattoos no matter how well done they are.

He he, thanks! If anyone doesn't want one, he/she shouldn't get one. I was just wondering how many people would and what they would get.

I solved the color fading problem with mine by having black only (I don't know if I could stand the pain of getting a lot of color!). I keep mine from fading by using a product called Body Dew with carnation oil--it also helps bring out a tan (which of course I don't have one!). My two are of my birth sign (scorpio) and the Chinese symbol for strength (because I'm fighting MS and I hope to beat it!)

I bet yours look nice even without all the colors.

I have four tattoos, each one is my own artwork and unique. At 55 years old my tattoos are all still as fresh as they were when they were done, and I plan to have another one done once I have finished the design.

Thanks for responding. You know you're going to like them if you designed them yourself. I hope you continue to enjoy them.

I would never get a tattoo either, for the same reasons. I wouldn't want something that permanent on my skin, especially once I get old and wrinkly! It just think it would look really gross by the time I'm 85, lol.

I'm actually more worried about my interest or like of it than whether it would look gross. You know, I've only seen one or two elderly people with tattoos. They don't look anything like they did when they were new.

I have always wanted a tattoo, but I am waiting for a design I really love and will cherish for the rest of my life. Like you, I am afraid of getting sick of my tattoo if I pick one at random or didn't put enough thought into it. Becayse oftentimes, I end up hating something I used to love for no real reason. I also want a design that won't seem too childish or ridiculous when I get older. I don't want to be embarrassed to reveal my tattoo.

That's exactly true. What I liked when I was in my 20s isn't what I would like now. Also, like some people have said, tattoos aren't really accepted everywhere yet, so you might have to cover it up at times.

I really would like to get a tattoo, but i don't think that i will be getting one anytime soon. I think the decision of getting one, is one that can't be made in a hurry. You have to pick the right design and so on, something that you will like forever. I would be too worried that later on in life i would become bored with the design and regret getting it. Also there is the whole stigma attatched to tattoo's, so one must also be careful about what they get, and where they get it.

I agree and those are some of the reasons why I haven't got one. I work in the public library and even having a temporary one gets funny looks.

i would get one if i had the money.i have an idea of what i want, just need an artist's input to improve it. only bad thing i've heard is that they're addictive. once you get one, have to get more.

He he. I haven't heard that, but I know most people have more than one. The only thing I advise is not to have your whole body tattooed unless you really think you want to.

I dont want to get a tattoo. But i'm not saying that, that is bad.. I found them nice, and unique but even in my mind, i dont want to have tattoos in my body.. Because i wanted that my body is clean and no drawings at all. Maybe, i have a hena tattoo, that is not permanent, so that if i wanted to have another design, i can change it. But with permanent tattoo, i guess, it makes me bored with one design..

That's exactly how I feel. I would get a henna tattoo as well. They can be for fun, but if I get bored, then I don't have to worry.

I have not only tried henna tattoo, not the real tattoos. I want temporary tattoos only that's why henna tattoos will do me good. Plus, I have such a sensitive skin. My skin easily irritates that's why i would not resort to real tattoos because that might irritate me or i might have more problems once I already have one. :)

Henna tatoos can last a little while, too. Or, you can get those that are like rub-on tattoos. Those can come in nice colors, too. But, every time I got one of those, the people with the real tatts found it amusing.

That's why I always get temporary ones. That way, they will either fade or rub off. No need to remove them.

I have 2 - i got 1 for my 18th birthday from a friend & then another one for an anniversary gift from my partner - i have 1 on each shoulder blade - a purple dragon blowing flames on 1 side & a baby grim reaper on the other. I love them & if you take care of them when they're new then the colour will stay longer, you can also get them touched up or changed completely :) I will get another one eventually, i just haven't worked out where yet - it'll be of a flowers with my daughter's name in it somewhere!

I'm glad you and your partner likes them. I'd bet the one with your daughter's name will be nice. I know you won't get bored of that one.

i'd like to have a tattoo of a lion or a sun. and i'll put in my back. lions are strong, while the sun is the eternal shine that lights up and never fades. my personality is somehow similar to that.

Go for it, if you think you'll like it twenty or thirty years from now. I know someone who had a couple of sun tattoos, and even a lion one. Problem with me is that I might not like it, or even that I got one, when I become a senior citizen 30 years from now.

I think I'm going to get one next time I see someone doing them. The last time I wanted one, I was discouraged by a family member. They didn't seem to believe that it was only temporary.
