When times get hard is it easier to believe that God is teaching you something or punishing you? I think everyone has it hard in some form or another, either it has been a death in the family, money issues or relationship problems. Is God testing us or do you feel he is picking on you.

I don't belive that God is punishing anybody! He's not mean old man who is just waiting for you to make a mistake so He can punish you! He's a good God, God of love and mercy! Then why do we have a hard times in life? Look at the Jews in Bible. Every time when they had good times, they forgot about God and went wrong way. But when God sent bad times, they all were back to Him. So, He loves us so much, that he sometimes gives us a bad time so that we don't leave Him and forget about Him...He want's to be a part of our life!

...actually I believe it's just a natural part of life.. [this is the world of choice, a by product of rationality] - Not that God can't bring us up short about something.. we can think of that as 'punishment' but actually it's a loving guiding hand, for who knows what awful results there might be if He did not take us in hand if need be? Even when it comes to national or world 'fiery' judgement, when it happens, I think of this as results and consequences.. But being as God is Life itself (who else?) I can see why it is called His judgements..
