Songs that bring tears to your eyes

What songs bring tears to your eyes every time you hear them? I'm looking for actual song titles and maybe the artist if you know. The lyrics would be nice or even just the lyrics that bring the tears and maybe 'why' they make you cry - can you relate to them somehow?
I have so many, I must be a big softy when it comes to songs and my interpertation. Country songs do it the worst - I just heard a song called "Moments" by Emmett (??) about him walking down the street and being followed by a homeless man and the homeless man says "he wasn't always like this.. he's had his moments, in the sun.. etc." I can't remember the exact words, but I'm going to go look up the lyrics in a moment.
The reason this song touched me is because I have an older brother - 17 years older than me - that I haven't seen in about 11 years at least. He was homeless for awhile 50% his own fault and 50% due to situations beyond his control. Last I heard, he had pulled himself together and was working and had a place to call home but he wants nothing to do with anyone in our family and I miss him and sometimes I wonder if he's still o.k. or if he's back on the streets. I remember happier days with him - he was my favorite brother out of my 3 and I miss him. I get sad thinking that I'll never speak to him again - that he will die without me having the chance to tell him that no matter what I love him.
So this song brought tears to my eyes because of this.
What about you?

Concrete Angel by Martina McBride makes me cry every time. It is even worse when watching the video. It is just so sad because you really feel the lonieless and desolation that people go through. And I hate that things like children dying happen because people are too afraid to stand up and say, hey something is not right here.
She walks to school with the lunch she packed
Nobody knows what she's holdin' back
Wearin' the same dress she wore yesterday
She hides the bruises with linen and lace
The teacher wonders but she doesn't ask
It's hard to see the pain behind the mask
Bearing the burden of a secret storm
Sometimes she wishes she was never born
Through the wind and the rain
She stands hard as a stone
In a world that she can't rise above
But her dreams give her wings
And she flies to a place where she's loved
Concrete angel
Somebody cries in the middle of the night
The neighbors hear, but they turn out the lights
A fragile soul caught in the hands of fate
When morning comes it'll be too late
[Repeat Chorus]
A statue stands in a shaded place
An angel girl with an upturned face
A name is written on a polished rock
A broken heart that the world forgot
[Repeat Chorus]

I know exactly what you mean and I agree. I never could understand how people can turn the other cheek when they know someone is being hurt. So much easier to 'mind their own business' .. don't want to mess up their nice comfortable world while someone elses is turned upside down with no way to escape.
I love that song and I love Martina McBride too. She has such a sweet voice and a way of singing that touches my heart. I find myself crying to alot of her songs.
Thank you for the lyrics and response!

Ironic, just as I hit SUMBIT.. my XM Radio started playing Martina McBride's song "Anyway".
This world's gone crazy
and it's hard to believe that tomorrow will be better than today
Believe it anyway...
God is great
but sometimes life ain't good
when I pray it doesn't always turn out like I think it should
but I do it anyway...

Everybody hurts by R.E.M.
R.E.M
(Automatic For The People)
When your day is long and the night,
The night is yours alone,
When you're sure you've had enough
With this life,
Well hang on
Don't let yourself go,
'Couse everybody cries
And everybody hurts sometimes
Sometimes everything is wrong
Now it's time to sing along
When your days is night alone,
If you feel like letting go,
When you think you've had too much
Of this life,
Well hang on
Everybody hurts
Take comfort in your friends
Everybody hurts
Don't throw your hand
Oh, no
Don't throw your hand
If you feel like you're alone,
No, no, no, you are not alone
If you're on your own in this life,
The days and nights are long,
When you think you've had too much
Of this life to hang on
Well, everybody hurts,
Sometimes everybody cries
And everybody hurts sometimes
And everybody hurts sometimes
So, hold on, hold on, hold on...
(Everybody hurts... You are not alone)

"Sandese ate hai, chitthi ati hai,ke ghar kab aaoge? likho kab aaoge?"
This is my very favorite Hindi song. This is sung by a soldiers at the border who are long long away from their home and family. They are engaged with the security of nation and doing their duty with full involvement. They love the nation but at the same time during night time at the rest moments-remind their dear ones.wait eagerly for their letters, eager to hear their voice and become emotional and this song comes out........... and brings tears to my eyes.

One of the song what bring tears to my eyes when i listen is, Elton Jhon's Sorry seems to be the hardest word, because when you do something wrong to the person whom you love a lot and later you realise your mistakes then you go ahead and say sorry... but in reality it's easy to say sorry but it's very difficult to express your expressions you are suffering from.....

A lot of songs makes me cry/bring tears to my eyes.Maybe its because im too emotional.I have a lot of bad past broken dreams and heart.Sometimes, when i heared a love songs,i dont even noticed that my tears is falling down my cheeks. But i feel the pain inside of me.It makes me remember those memories that still linger on my mind.No matter how i tried to hold on my feelings, but its really hard to keep it.Its good too to express on crying while listening to love songs, because it also healed our pains.

"Footprints in the Sand". The lyrics goes that a man is walking along the beach with the Lord Jesus. As they walked, there's flash in the sky scenes of the man's life. The man noticed that there are 2 sets of footprints in the sand in every happy moments of his life's scenes. But, in his saddest and lowest moments of his life's scene, there is only 1 set of footprints in the sand. So, he asked the Lord about these, why when I needed you the most you left me? The Lord answered, my son, I love you and I would never leave you, during the saddest and lowest moments of your life when you can only see 1 set of footprints in the sand, it was then that I carried you.
This last part of the lyrics, my tears just drops down.

In Indian music we have plenty of songs.
for me, the song "naa cheli rojave" in the film "Roja" brings tears from inside of the heart
its composed by the music maestro A R Rahman....
its sung by a husband who is kidnapped by the pakistani terrorists. he cries his heart out for his wife who is struggling to release him. the songs has an excellent back drop of the terrorist camps and beauties of
jammu and kashmir, most beautiful place in India

Yes I know the song "Moments" well. It is sung by Emerson Drive. Very good song!
The one song that I will cry to everytime I hear it is "I Loved Her First" by Heartland. The very first time I ever heard the song I thought of my wedding day when my father gave me away. The song is so true to my heart. Here are the lyrics:
Look at the two of you dancing that way
Lost in the moment of each others face
So much in love your alone in this place
Like there's nobody else in the world
I was enough for her not long ago
I was her number one
She told me so
And she still means the world to me
Just so you know
So be careful when you hold my girl
Time changes everything
Life must go on
And I'm not gonna stand in your way
But I loved her first and I held her first
And a place in my heart will always be hers
From the first breath she breathed
When she first smiled at me
I knew the love of a father runs deep
And I prayed that she'd find you someday
But it still hard to give her away
I loved her first
How could that beautiful women with you
Be the same freckle face kid that I knew
The one that I read all those fairy tales to
And tucked into bed all those nights
And I knew the first time I saw you with her
It was only a matter of time
But I loved her first and I held her first
And a place in my heart will always be hers
From the first breath she breathed
When she first smiled at me
I knew the love of a father runs deep
And I prayed that she'd find you someday
But its still hard to give her away
I loved her first
From the first breath she breathed
When she first smiled at me
I knew the love of a father runs deep
Someday you might know what I'm going through
When a miracle smiles up at you
I loved her first

Its so hard to get over a relative that close. I have lost my parents now and I really miss them. A song that really touches the core of my heart and always brings tears to my eyes is a bollywood number by singer Jagjit Singh:
The lyrics are very touching, they are:
No letter , No message
that world is totally unknown
for where you have departed to,
you have hurt my heart by going this way
where have you gone
you must have heaved a sigh which we didn't hear
while going away you must have called out for us too
Now we are always sad to think why we were not there with you
when you left forever
Everything around us tearfully reminds us of you
this path, this home, this street could not say good bye to you for the last time
Now our heart pains to think that why you left in such a hurry for the final abode
Now your memories bring pain to our heart
the pain of this untimely sepration is unbearable and outr tears do not stop falling
Mylove searches for you and to whom now I would say that "I love you"
where have you gone to that unknown world
leaving this pain in my heart why have you gone.
Its such a nioce song, I have not done full justice in translation but in hindi you can read it here
http://www.hindilyrix.com/songs/get_song_Chithhi%20na%20koyi%20sandesh.html
the lines that touch me most are
you must have sighed and
you must have called out for us
but we were not there with you on that moment.
imagine someone dying without their loved ones around them. The pain that leaves behind.

Rascal Flatts - What Hurts the most.
It relates not only to those who've lost someone they love because they've passed on, but also when a relationship ends and stuff.
It's a song that upsets me since when I hear it all I can seem to think about is when I was really truly in love with someone, and they threw it away just in a heartbeat because he saw some girl he wanted to f#$k.
So anyways, yeah.

There are a lot of songs that brings me to tears, but what really makes me cry, is the song, Make Me Whole by Amel Larrieux, Broken Vow by Lara Fabian and When I Saw You by Mariah Carey. It makes me cry because of the lyrics and the melody of the song. I intentionally download songs like these whenever i feel like crying. Well, it's advisable to cry sometimes.. :) These are very nice songs..

The song that always makes me tear up is "Proud to be an American" by Lee Greenwood. Everytime it comes on, I pretty much sitting there, usually in the car, bawling my eyes out. Quite embarassing. But what can I say, I'm patriotic.
