Are you cooking in or going out for Easter dinner?

I usually make Easter dinner every year, but this year I am torn about just going out for a nice Easter dinner or making it at home. It will just be my family and my mom so we will not have a crowd this year - I do like having the extra food for leftovers and such during the week, but I don't know if I want to be lazy and just go out. What are your plans? If you are cooking what are you going to make? I would do a spiral ham and a turkey if we eat home.

I am hosting it as I have for the last 3 years now. There will be 12 of us here plus the baby. I did not want to have it this year, but my husband wanted to so I said o-kay.

Usually I cook at home for myself, my partner and the kids but this year things have changed lol. My kids have been invited to stay at their friends place and so it's just my partner and myself. I'm pretty sure we'll be eating out since we're off out for the day. Exactly WHERE we'll be eating is a different matter. It might be a nice restaurant where we don't have to worry about the cooking or anything, or it might be sandwiches at the top of a mountain lol. To me it doesn't matter. What matters is spending some quality time alone with my honey. We haven't had that in forever.

Hope you and your honey have a great time! I may feel strange with out the kids around, but I'm sure you two will make it a special day.

We never go to a restaurant over the Easter period because they are all so packed and usually fully booked, we much rather cook in, do a roast or a big meal, we don't have family over, so it's just me and my housemate, nothing special, we have a couple of Easter eggs but don't celebrate Easter, it's a chance to have extra days off but that's it.

That's nice you get extra days off. I don't get any holiday time for Easter. My kids have Thursday through Easter Monday off though -- so they'll be enjoying it!

I am cooking, as per usual, lol. It's a good thing I enjoy it. I am probably making Ham, scallopped potatoes, corn, pistachio salad or peach salad, rolls, pie, and a few other goodies. I would really like to do a turkey for Easter this year, but hubby really wants ham, so ham it is. I just wish my kids were here to enjoy it too.

It's still up in the air at the moment. If I do cook, it will problaby be a turkey. then again, I might go with ham. That;s my problem, I never know what to cook so when I do cook, I cook way too much. The good thing is that if there are a ton of left overs it gives me the chance to play around with them and use new recipes.

you are like me -- cook this cook that, and end up with way more food than anyone could reasonably eat! lol Leftovers galore!

We're staying home this year. It's just me & my daughter so I'm only baking a spiral sliced ham and some glazed sweet potatoes for us. We had Thanksgiving and Christmas at a friend's house last year but they're going out of town for Easter this time. I'll have plenty of leftover ham slices I can put in the freezer for later on. :) Ham & cheese sandwiches, here we come!

lol, one thing about a ham, is there is usually more than enough and it lasts forever! lol

We will probably go to Church then go visit our 4 grandchildren ( 2 eldest sons children ) then go for a drive in the car , we will probably come home to home made steak pie and roast potatoes later in the day , In saying that lol I love to be spontaneous so we will just wait and see lol , Have a lovely day whatever you do shady xxxxx

Looks like my mother will be doing the Easter dinner this year. Which means we all have to go over there for the day and try to play nice with family :) Oh well it could be worse. I think she's going to make a ham which shouldn't be too bad. She can make turkey so dry but ham she usually manages not to destroy. Nice thing about going over there is I can go home when I want to unlike when they come here. I have to wait for them to leave.

yes, that is one good thing for visiting elsewhere - you can go when you've had enough! lol Sometimes company just stays way too long.

I am planning to go to the beach with my family. Cook a little food for us. Or maybe buy ready-made food so that we will just relax and enjoy Easter Sunday with my family.

Well since it will just be my hubby and I home, and my hubby has to work that day, I'm not sure what I will do. I may go ahead and make a small ham or Easter Pie. I haven't really thought too much about it.

yum! that does sound good. That's the only thing about eating out -- no yummy leftovers for the week. And you can have a bigger variety at home too. ;o)

i'll be going out with my girlfriend this Easter Sunday, we'll just go to the beach and celebrate with the people there. it's our tradition of going to the beach every Easter Sunday. some people organizes games like egg hunting on that day, one way for celebrating Easter. eggs really symbolizes birth which we can recall the resurrection of Jesus. anyway, we'll be cooking and bring our foods at the beach. advance happy easter!

Sometimes me and my mom go out to eat early in the day sometime. But for the most part every year we have Easter dinner at my house, so thats what we will be doing again this year. Hopefully it will be nice out and we can get something going outdoors too.
