What kind of milk do you drink? I drink 1% mostly to help cut back on my fat intake. But I serve my children 2%. I think the 2% tastes good with cereal or cookies because it is creamier than what I normally drink. I try to leave the 2% out of my diet, but if I run out of my own, I just use theirs.

My uncle have cows and he give us 2 liters of fresh milk every day.So we drink only natural unprocessed milk, direct from the "source".My wife drink it unboiled .

That is very interesting. I have never had any kind of milk that has not been pasteurized and bought from a store. How does fresh milk compare to commercialized milk?

Does pasteurization strip the milk of some of the nutrients? If so, I bet we as consumers would never know that. I have had homemade butter before. Very yummy!

Well,it's very good.It is more fat then "regular" milk, but is very nutritive. Is so fat that can make butter and cheese from it.Is delicious.

I give my son about 1 litre of normal milk a day. My boyfriend drinks semi skimmed milk. I don't drink milk on it's on but if i was having a cup of coffee/tea, I would drink normal milk as it tastes better.

I am not much of a milk drinker either actually, unless it is on my cereal or as I said with cookies or something sweet. I do like adding chocolate though for a nice sweet drink.

I dont even eat cereal. Have never liked it. Was turned off milk about 10years ago when one of my brothers left the milk carton out on the counter in the middle of summer. I ran in after being out playing and gulp a big mouth full out of it, only to find it had gone sour in the heat. So have never really liked it since then. lol

Yuck, I can completely understand why you are not very much into milk anymore! That would gross me out too for sure! I love my morning cereal. I eat it every single day and even sometimes for an afternoon snack!

I drink rice milk or almond milk. I don't drink real milk because I am a vegetarian and I am also lactose intolerant.

I have not either rice milk or almond milk! Is that sold in the organic section of the supermarket?

I also use 1% for myself.....I serve my children homogenized.....the fat intake is good for the younger ones because they are so active.....mine burn off their intake within 5 minutes of eating it.....LOL

My kids are pretty active too, and by no means do they need to be on any kind of diet. Although just to keep things easier I may steer them over to 1%,to help in having to buy so much milk. LOL but I haven't decided yet. They do drink my milk on occasion though, and they have never said anything about the taste, so I am sure I could switch them painlessly.

I use skim for most cooking needs, but if we are making pudding it has to be 2% or whole milk or it just won't stay set up. I would like to buy organic raw milk to bypass all those awful hormones and other additives.

I agree the richer the milk, the better the pudding is. I will use the kids 2% over mine for that for sure. Do they sell organic raw milk? If you have had it, does it taste the same as regular milk?

I cant stand milk. I dont like how it taste, how it smells and how it looks. So obvious i dont drink milk at all, although i eat ice-cream and love cheese. Both are milk product but i enjoy them. I think in my country many people use 0 % milk and also 1,5 % milk.

OK based on American standards, there are 4 levels of milkfat-whole contains 8 grams, 2 % contains 5 grams, 1 % contains 2.5 grams, and skim/ nonfat contains 0. So it sounds like skim and 2 % are the most popular where you are?

We also have 1/2 % for whatever purpose. Lida, I do not like milk either. I can barely pour it for the kids without gagging. one hot hot hot summer day last year, I was so thirsty, I could not make it into the house fast enough to get myself a drink of water - so I had every intention of just guzzling from the jug I keep in the fridge. And so I did! then I quickly turned around and spewed it into the sink! you guessed it, I grabbed the milk jug instead. oh how gross! Teach me patience and propriety, drinking out of the jug indeed!

We drink nothing but skim at our house. We try to watch our fat intake and this is one important want that we cut back on fat. Now that I have gotten used to skim, I cannot stand anything else!

LOL did it take along time to get used to it though? I just think it is so thin and doesn't resemsble much of a milk :). I am not very good at watching my fat in general, but I am not overwieght so I think the lower fat milk helps balance out my diet. Thanks for the response!

I guess I have a bit of a "dual habit" when it comes to milk. Just for "drinking" I tend to drink skim (non-fat) milk ONLY; I was raised on it, and for some reason it's the only thing that tastes "right" to me. Besides, it minimizes my fat intake. However... I can't STAND skim milk on cereal-- it just doesn't tast right unless it's with WHOLE milk. Not sure why that is, exactly... skim milk on cereal somehow tastes "frothy" and nasty, to me.

LOL so you buy two types of milk to keep in your fridge too? You are like me I guess, the creamier and richer milk is better on cereal, even though I always use my 1% if I have it on hand.

We drink 1% milk in our house. We drink it for the same reason as you....fat intake. Whenever we are out and have whole milk, it taste strange to me. I'm just not use to it. I use the 1% milk for everything, including baking.

Yeah, for a long time I have been giving my kids 2%, but I think they are ok to actually be switched to 1%. I gave each of my kids whole milk for the 1st year they could have milk (right after birthdat number one.) As recommended by their doctor and other nutritionalists. That stff is horrid! You may as well pour straight cream onto your cereal. Too rich for me. 2% is pushing it, but it is a nice treat once in a while.

Wow, that is quite a change in taste to go from skim to whole! Yes, my kids were on the whole milk diet too right after they turned one-bot for the brain development, as nutritionalists say high fat in milk is best for that, and also just for the fat because my kids were skinny little things!
