Do you take vacations EVERY year?

I was wondering how many people out there actually take regular vacations...I know I have a lot of children and we've never taken a 'real' vacation.
However, we've had this friend of ours introduce a program where you pay a small fee and you get up to 70% off of everything, rental cars, hotels, flights, cruises, etc. for the REST OF YOUR LIFE! You only have to pay the fee one time and you get the savings forever and ever. And not only that but you can share your savings with family and friends. The travel doesn't have to be just in your name.
I think it sounds like a great idea. We REALLY need BIG discounts in order for all of us to go on a nice vacation. But, I wanted to run it by all of you~my friends~ and get your opinions on it.
So, how many of you go on regualar vacations? Where do you usually go? HOw much does it cost you? And do you think this 'program' would be a good idea?**I also travel occasionally (fly and rent cars and hotel rooms) to see family and such.

no, i didn't take vacations every single year... depends on the money that i have... if i have enough money, then i will go... otherwise, i won't... because it is so expensive... the program sounds good to me... i think i've heard about it before... is it called trend west??? you have to pay a very large fee at first and you have to pay maintenance fee every year which is also quite high...

No, it's not through trend west. It's through a friend of ours. But, you pay $500 and if you choose to sell the travel yourself you would pay a $50 a month AFTER the first month. But you don't have to get the website and you don't have to sell it yourself. You NEVER have to pay anything to that company again and you get the savings for the rest of your life. There aren't any maintenance fees. Send me a message if you are interested in learning more. Thanks :-)

We don't tend to take vacations as such, our 'big' holiday is to travel back to the Philippines to visit the family of my wife every couple of years. Last year it cost us about $4,000, so not very cheap.
Where we live in the UK is very nice and there are lots of places yet for both my wife and me to see so we spend a lot of time not too far from home, its just a pity the weather can sometimes be a little poor, but hey, thats Britain for you and what would we have to talk about if the weather was perfect?? lol
About the programme, in principal it sounds good, maybe too good, but I have seen similar schemes for other things, dining out etc which do work and can make tremendous savings, I could well be interested in looking at it.

We don't travel that much. We did go to San Diego last year to see Bruce's mom. We are going to Vegas this month. But other than that our trips are 'day' trips.

Hmm, the number of "real" vacations I took as a child--one, I think. Since marrying my husband I have taken 2 real vacations. One was our honeymoon to Disney World and the other was a week trip up to Maine that we decided to do out of the blue (took 2 days of planning), but we didn't take the kids.
We could never afford to take a real vacation with our kids. We travel to visit family every summer, though, which were the only vacations I got as a kid. We never did stuff like visit landmarks, disney or stuff like that and I survived.

Splurging for a vacation is not practical. Saving for many years for a dream come true vacation would be so extravagant but after that vacation you will you will again work and work for day to day living. for me having simple vacation with family and spending quality time is enough.

I really have to have a vacation once a year because I don't know.. it seems like it's my yearly routine. It's like a gift for myself after the whole year of working and studying. I really don't like travels that requires a lot of money to spend. A simple roadtrip would be just fine for me but I beach would be really nice.

Not sure what quantifies as "a lot of children"...but cruises are relatively inexpensive if you book them when the gettings good. They're economical in the sense of a one-stop-shop...don't have to pay additional costs of lodging, food, and transportation (outside of getting to the initial port site). It's also a chance to get a "taste" of different places...weed out the ones you want to return at a later date and spend more time.

I don't take a holiday every year - I went on holiday within the UK last year and before that to Tenerife in 2004, Majorca in 2001 and the USA in 2000.
Also, I don't pay for it (someone else does) so I don't know how much it costs ;-)

I don't take long holidays yet, but I just have short holiday even for a week or two. Well I don't want to take holidays too often yet, I don't think about enjoying it yet as I still really need to work hard to earn money and pay the debts I have. Yes I would love to take it but I just can't do it yet. I'm pretty sure someday I will.

yep, i take vacation but it's mostly company sponsored and i think it's really necessary to unwind because we're all stressed with work. a few days in a new relaxing location can really help so that when you get back to work you're all pumped and ready for the job.

I haven't taken a vacation in 13 years n no i don't miss taking vacations. A good book, visiting my loved ones all the things that you do that bring you joy are the small regular vacations that one gives to ones self. There are lots of others like u who due to financial restrains are unable to take vacations...do things in your daily life that bring u joy n u won't miss not having taken a vacation. Believe you me, it works.
