I think that those are the last real cowboys. I find them on television occasionally and we tune it. My boy is especially fond of them. Not sure if barrel racing or the bull riding would be the favorite. I like the big bulls that have reputations. Don't like a cowboy being hurt though.

Where I live, we have really cowboys and cowgirls all over. I love the rodeo. They don't mind getting hurt. I don't like to see it, but, it's their choice. I love to watch the talent some of them have.

I wish you could go to one in real life. It is so awesome and fun. Maybe plan it sometime, it's a treat.

Ohh yes, I like to watch Rodeos a lot. Wen we were in Kansas we used to go to Rodeo every time we get a chance. Now we don't get much chance to watch. I wish I could watch it frequently.

Yes, I agree with you. I love everything but the barrel rides. That does't thrill me. I do like the bronks too.

Oh, I love rodeos too. I used to go all the time when I lived in Washington. They don't really have many rodeos in Mass. But I do watch them on television a lot. I like the bull riding the best also.

Yes, there are more out in the south, southwest, and west north, then they have in Mass. or north east.
Glad we have tv, but not as much as in real life, is it?

The rodeos are ok but I prefer the gymkhanas, jump shows, dressage shows..It's more fun for me if I know someone participating..In my many adventures I dated a calf roper/team penner for a short time so I followed a circuit (a couple of months)working handling horses when they weren't used and shoveling their byproduct..tehe..Alot of people get seriously injured and killed at rodeos.I had thought it was just show but saw first hand it wasn't.It sorta took the fun out of it for me.I do love the machanical bulls though..Margie you have to try to ride one...It's a hoot! I can stay on ...like...2 seconds and that was my best time...

I think I am a bit old to try it now, but I certainly would have liked to when I was younger. I used to ride horses constantly. I found bare back was a bit harder. What is gymkkanas? I have seen a lot of beautiful horses in contests that jum and dance. I loved it. Anything to do with a horse, I am hooked.

Hi Sweets,Thanks for the BR..Here's a place where you can watch some clips of gymkhana classes..It's basicly timed games on horseback.
Sheilana always is so funny when she does the izzy dizzy. They ride to the end of the areana.jump off the horse.put their forehead down on a baseball bat and circle the bat 20 times then run back to the gate...Sheilana gets dizzy easy so she staggers, crawls, runs for the gate...It's a hoot!!!
This summer at the horse show and gymkhana that I do I'll try to get good videos to email to you.

About 8 years ago my family and I took a vacation out west. We spent 3 weeks driving across the country in our camper and made many stops. One of our favorite things was a rodeo that we attended in South Dakota. None of us had ever been to a rodeo. It was wonderful! Like you, I enjoyed watching the guys try to stay on the bucking bulls! WOW, I was so afraid that they would get really injured. Actually, when I am forced to sit through a boring meeting at work, in my head I look a lot like one of those riders, as I have to MAKE myself stay in my seat!! I so want to get up and come home to myLot! But I have to try to stay on that seat and listen attentively! Ha! Maybe my boss will have a horn and some rope added for me!

I love to watch rodeo. But I am glad that none of my boys had a true passion for it. My husband will ride pick up for the local rodeos as part of the horses training. A good pick up horse can be hard to find. So when folks see a good one, it turns into a good sale for us.

I guess you have to be from the States to like it. Although I love horses and cows/bulls I cannot understand the fun behind rodeos. For me they seem to me more a display of human skills. But as I said I'm not a cowgirls and it's a strange world for me.

we have rodeos here in the philippines. i was once a part of a casting down women's team. that's were two lassos are thrown on a cattle's neck and when the cattle is down, the legs of the cattle are tied. the fastest team to do all that wins. we also had bullriding events, cattle wrestling, lassoing on foot. there were also fun activities, i love egg catching the most.

No I don't love the rodeos. I think they're depressing and pathetic.

While rodeos are not my favorite thing, I do enjoy watching the bronco busting and calf roping. I always thought the barrel races were dull.

I love rodeos. I've been riding since I was three and rodeoing is in my blood. I barrel race and have family that ropes and bull rides. I love each and every event but barrels ae my favorite since that's what I do. I really do like bulls but they are not my favorite since I have lost a best friend to a bull riding accident.
