Bizzare posting and responding tricks by mylotters...

hope you might have observed this a lot on mylot by now. i myself have been a victim and may be even you have been too if you noticed. i was just commenting on a response recived to what i posted. i scrolled down so quickly to see other new responses and ended up to some similar discussions to what i posted. and these were posted just within one hour after i posted. Most suprisingly, i found a response (that actually my other friend made ) has been simply copy pasted as his response? these acts ludicruous and prove only the lack of one's individuality in posting or responding. Have you guys noticed this? what are your thoughts on this?

Yes, disgusting! And I am so "honored" to be that victim you mentioned. :P
We should report these people as soon as we see them.

Yes, I have seen someone post a discussion, and answer it and read on to find someone else posted the exact same discussion with the exact wording, Why cheat? I can see if you posted one, not knowing about the other one, but the exact wording? Come on its obvious...I agree!

I know what you mean. I have a thread before about animal savagery. One of the poster there replied to my discussion and within the hour, posted one of his own using the same words that I had used. I was so upset by this cheater that I posted my complaint for all the mylotters to see. Its a good thing a lot of the members readily helped out. It sucks, if you ask me.

I've heard of this happening and I guess it is a way that some people think will make them more money, it is very quick to copy and paste someone elses reply so I guess they can do this loads of times. I would have thought that this is picked up in some way but i'm not sure how.

i have grave doubt if these people earn for copy/pasting. if thats easy the mylot membership would skyrock in few days.

i dont mind for number of responses. i always got good responses to what ever i posted being my own. i believe trustworthy people still exist on the planet unless you are suspicious about the human race itself.

I have not noticed this at all, but I wouldn't be surprised if people are doing this. I guess they are trying to cheat the system as my kids love to say in order to make more money. It's definitely unfair to all of those who take the time to answer each question individually. I'll have to keep an eye out for that though.

This has been very common lately. It's always been a problem, off and on, on Mylot. But, lately, I've been hearing a lot of it. I usually report that person or at least give them a negative. I wonder if it's someone who can't speak English because it's not that hard to come up with a response, even a short one.

I wondering if it's because the MLPD has been on strike. They're the ones who usually caught those people.

When I see the identical post somewhere that within an hour I usually turn it in for this is not right, not sure what mylot does with it but i know they get a negative response for sure and some I believe also get deleted and there pay taken away. But you are so right this is just pure lack of respect for others and also for themselves really if they think about it that they would be so lame as to have to copy someone else...the greedy ones is what I would call them.

Hi, I've noticed this quite often in different discussions, although not too much in my own I don't think. I think the majority of us here are here for the actual discussions (let's face it you don't earn that much money!), However lets face it there are people here who are just here for the money and the easiest way for them to make it is copy and pasting! Quick, easy and basically cheating, but unless they get reported, i'm sure they will get away with it. I'm afraid I don't think there is much anyone can do to stop it apart from leaving them a '-'!

I know that I have seen things that look very similar. Today I even started a discussion and when it came up there were a lot of similar ones under it. I wouldn't have bothered if I had known about the other ones - I'd have responded to them. Then under another category i saw a discussion that I thought I'd answered yesterday only to find out that it was almost exactly the same, but started by someone who had actually answered the other post. They had to know that that subject was already on the page!

I had this happen in one of my discussions a few weeks ago. The person left not one but THREE different copied responses from within the same discussion. I reported it and they were gone within a few hours. It might not always be easy to prove but in this case they had not been careful about what they copied and had used personal information and other things that made it easy to identify.
Thankfully, I never had one of my own discussions actually copied, at least none that I've noticed. Since everything lists how long ago it was posted, I think it would be fairly easy to prove which was the original and which was copied. If I had something copied, I'd report it and trust the mylot administration to deal with it properly.

It's good that you have reported it. How I wish these guys will learn their lesson and straighten out or they can just leave us who do it honestly here.

I have seen various forms of copying going on. There are some who seem to respond to discussions by copying a block of text from the original post and then adding a couple of words like "I agree." That way they can make it look like they wrote a long response, yet all they did was write two words. I have also seen some of the better responses on discussions with a LOT of replies just getting copied as "original," several pages later.
It strikes me these people are just here to see if they can "earn some money" and do whatever they can ot get around the system. And then they bellyache and whine when their posts are removed, or their account gets closed.

Yes, for my 1 month of being here on mylot, I have noticed this kind of people. And am glad there are some of great fellow mylotters here who are very vigilant on these kinds of people. I remember greengal reported to mylot admin a couple of cheaters she caught in some of her discussions, and she also posted a discussion about these cheaters. And good thing though coz they were eventually kicked off from mylot. By then, they learned a lesson that mylot isn't just for making fun but for some sensible discussions.

No I cant say that I have seen anything like that, but it could be just because I am so new here. Either way its a shame, if only there was a way to prevent things like that.

To be honest with you I'm not that keen when it comes to see this kind of spammers and cheaters only when its too obvious. If I ever encounter that no doubt I will immedietly report them and let them get what they really desrve for such a moronic actions.

You know, I have never been a victim of this (that I know of). I have seen many people talk about the cheaters that are here on mylot. I don't appreciate that people are cheating and taking advantage of something that other people enjoy. I do like the fact that we earn money here but I enjoy posting and commenting and reading what others think on certain subjects. I hope that mylot can take care of some of these people.

yeah they just prove how stupid they are.But mylot actually does pay duplicate posts and discussions. So i guess the very purpose of doing it is defeated. So i really dont get irritated by that.

I came across a post that was very long and as I read it I thought I have read and pretty sure answered it, but I spent at least 2 hours going over my answers and can not come up with it, I know I have read this post before and I am almost sure it was stolen but can not prove it, This is so wrong when it happens. I have some difficulty coming up with new discussions that would be of interest to others and if they are stolen I would be very upset, I know when I started there were a few who got caught and I do not see them any more so at least mylot is getting rid of them as they are brought to their attention, way to go mylot.

Yes I have seen this and I make to sure to report it whenever I spot it.
It may interest you to know that in response to this thread a member has copied desertdarlene's original response from the first page and pasted it as their own response on page five of this same thread.
I will report it now and hope that anyone else who notices this copying will report it too.

It just happened to me over the weekend. I posted a discussion, and were reading through the responses and answering back as many as I could. I have only ever created a discussion twice, so I was pleasantly surprised to see the 30 responses.
One guy wrote one line, then re-wrote my entire original posting, then wrote another one line at the end. I was, understandably, a little annoyed at that person. I responded saying something like, "Why did you just re-type what I originally wrote because that wasn't very nice?" Then, I gave him/her a negative marking. I didn't know if there was anything else to do or not.
It's a shame that people are cheating like that, especially when a questions can easily be answered. I don't mind bad grammar or English, but to copy word for word just to have a longer post? That really does bother me.
