Some people turn their cellphones off when they sleep as they don't want to be bothered while sleeping, while some others would just leave their cellphone on for some emergency purposes of some other reasons... to which category do you find yourself?
Personally, I leave my cellphone on when I go to sleep coz for me cellphones are the best way for people who are in dire need to ask for help. Am not wishing though that some of my family or friends would be in emergencies whatsoever, but who knows? (God forbid). At least by then, I would regret not being able to help a friend out just because I was sound asleep with my phone off.
Another thing, I use my cellphone as my alarm clock, so I always leave it on when I sleep. And I know a couple of people who does the same.
how about you, are you the kind of person who hates to be bothered by those untimely calls thus turning your phone off when you sleep? or are you the type of person who just leaves it on? Whichever case you do, do you share the same reasons as mine? or do you have any other reasons for either turning your cellphones off or on while asleep?
do share your thoughts:P

Your husband is most probably a deep sleeper. People who are like this are very hard to awaken. Rings from the cellphone will never make him open those eyes.

Yeah, cellphones really are important especially when you have some loved ones who are far from you. Thanks for the response, ydnac.

When I get home from work or being out somewhere, I always turn my cell phone off. When I go to sleep, the phone goes into the charger. I have a landline where anyone can reach me if they need to, so my cell phone can rest when I do.

I think that these days, cell phones are for more than just emergencies. I use my cell for all my long distance calls now. Most of my family and friends live far away, so now we can talk whenever we want.

Mine stays on 24/7, although I "reboot" every day bcs they told me to. I use a wheelchair and my husband and I have separate bedrooms, so I keep the cell phone under my pillow all night, in case I need him for anything. I also use the alarm function. Then I call his cell phone (which is on his headboard) to tell him I'm awake.
It goes on the charger next to my computer while I'm MyLotting or writing, etc.

I will try to swicth it off when I am going to sleep becasue generally no one will call me when I am sleeping, and I can use the phone for longer time without charging it, but sometimes I just forget to switch it off.
Also,I hope I do not want to be woken up in case there is phone call at the midinght even the chance is low..may be someone just ring up the wrong number..lol.

I have two cellphones, one is for my buiseness contacts while the other one is a personal cp where my close friends and my family numbers are stored..i leave my personal cp on for emergencies call while the other cp for buiseness i keep it off when going to sleep because i hate customers who keep calling and texting even at night time where they can do it at working time or day time.

my cell phone's at service round the clock. it's kind of annoying though when instead of hoping or expecting calls or text messages from people you want to be connected with, you get these "hi, can you be my textmate?". hahahaha. well, i know i should be ready for that!

I don't like to be bothered so i keep my cellphone off when i sleep. My cellphone has timers for on and off so when it reaches the time that i have set it will automatically turn off. In case of emergency i have give my friend the house phone. Unless it is very urgent or else they seldom call the phone.

I don't turn it off, but I put it in silent mode. This way, when I wake up, I can see whoever called me when I was asleep.

some cellphones, especially the newer digital phones have to be turned off to recharge them.. it give the phone time to reboot and update new features while it is plugged in , and if he uses it constantly during the day.
There is absolutely no reason to ALWAYS turn off your phone when you come in or to lock it ...other than you have something to hide. It's suspicious behaviour. this behaviour raises serious nature. If didn't want to hear it ring one could simply turn it down or leave it in another room. And what's so bad about it running out of charge?
one could always just re-charge it. Everyone wants privacy but seriously who goes to so much trouble? Accusing one is never a good way to approach the subject. perhaps bc you have trust issues from your previous marriage that you mentioned.. or perhaps due to a combination of the both. Do what's in your best interest. I hope things work out though. Take careprobably runs the battery down, talk on it so much everyday.

When at home, I prefer that only one cellphone shall be left switched on for the night. But it always happens that no one bothers to turn off any cellphone at all. So, usually all the cellphones at home are turned on most of the times. I think that only one switched on for the night will suffice for all sorts of calls in order to save on having to charge the batteries and the habit will extend battery life, too.

I almost always keep mine on, as sometimes my girlfriend will call in the morning and wake me up. Also tend to keep it on for emergency purposes, just in case someone needs to reach me. It's led to a few wrong-number calls at three in the morning that I was less than pleased with, but I've also had to deal with an actual emergency (friend of mine in a car wreck) that I wouldn't have known about until morning if my phone had been off.
