Just out of curiosity

A friend of mine on this site averages about 110 posts a day. I find this amount incredible and wonder how it is possible. The discussions are wonderful ones full of curiosity, well thought out and interesting. This person also responds.
Now I'm on dial-up so things are slow, and I also do other things while I wait but even when I focus I'm still unable to do more than 30 posts, both discussions and responses.
I wish someone would explain what it is I'm doing incorrectly.
I could have asked this person directly but I wanted a discussion, a broad range of answers as to how others think this is done. Thanks in anticipation.

Wow 110 posts per day!! That is alot. How many hours per day is this person spending on MyLot? It sure must be alot. I spend alot of time here and I know I don't do anything near 110 posts per day. I try to respond to discussions that are of interest to me.

Mstickle, I too have a friend like that who post a lot of discussions each day. Once she told us that she was an American citizen born and raised here. Then a few weeks later she said that her home country was somewhere else.
Sometimes she discusses in broken English. And then she discusses in perfect English.
Sometimes she appears to be a young woman maybe in her late teens and then again she sounds like a woman in her twenties and very experienced.
So that leads me to believe that she's either a person with multiple personalities or there are three or four persons posting under the same name.
So what do you think about that Mstickle?

I've noticed a few people whose stories seem to change quite frequently...maybe they don't have any real stories to talk about so they invent personalities so they can have something interesting to discuss? It must get hard keeping up with who's who though lol

I know how you feel. I barely can get 25-30 in a day and that is with me checking my mail while I waqit for page to load. I also have dial-up and it is slow going for me I think it also has to do with the computer to I only have 133mhz when the average Mhz today is over 300. I have a very old one I have had for almost ten years and it was used when I got it. I went to my brothers He has DSL and I did eighty in the time it usually takes me to do 30. But I can't afford DSl. It would cost me 29.99 a month. Yeah I could probably make that off mylot if I really tried but what would be the point of having it if all I did was anser questions all day and post. If I'm really trying now I make anywhere from 10-15 dollars a month now. Have you considered High speed or Accellerated? It might help. I am getting the High speed in a few days so I can see if I like it or that it helps any. Maybe then I will be able to get 30-40 in then..well good luck and happy posting.

Hi
Not sure what high speed or Accelerated is. My connection speed is 33.6kbs. It was a tad faster but my session kept dropping out so they reduced it. (???)
I've used computers with broadband or satellite and faster speeds and I've only noticed a slight improvement so I don't get the speed thing at all.
I'm also not sure how to have different tabs open either.
If I could just focus on Mylot it would be good or if I could sit at the computer but I need to keep getting on and off my chair and I do other stuff as well as MyLot.

I dont think you're doing anything incorrectly :)
When I first started at mylot, I used to try to do around 50 a day, and even that was a stretch. Also at that time they weren't as strict as they are now about one line answers and the like, so it was easier to do more.
Are you sure your friend is giving long answers or just one liners? I think you get paid more for quality too.
At the moment I just do it in between jobs at work, so do around 10 posts a day. And only ones I'm acutally interested in.
I think just stick to answering and making topics that interest you and that you can really contribute to. It's more about quality than quantity :)

I don't know, I was on here one day all day and late into the night and I managed to do 70 some responses and comments on one of my own discussions. I do however play detective, read a lot and not respond, and just look around a lot. I am on dial-up also. I can see how someone could do 110 but don't see how they do anything else.

I have no idea how some people manage to make that number of posts per day. A good day for me is when I've made 30 - 40. I spend a lot of time just reading other's responses and I think often I waffle on too much in my own responses. Don't think I'm ever going to make a fortune on here anyway! I guess maybe if I was on here all day I would make more but I have to say some days I struggle to find 30 discussions worth responding to.

Wow 110 posts a day! The most I've done is 80 posts and that took me all afternoon, oh well, probably because I have a toddler to look after. I think your internet connection is to blame, if it's slow, it will take more time for you to see the discussions and respond to them. I think it's best for you to refer more people so that you can earn more even though you're averaging 30 posts per day. Good luck.

I'm on dial up too. I open about 10 to 15 discussions at a time and wait for them to download. That way it goes alot faster. By the time I reach the end the others are ready to tag, and I can just keep going by opening another set of discussions.
110 posts still seems like alot though! I don't think I would have the time.

I could do it, if I was really wanting to, but really, that would take sometime. One, you would need a fast computer and connection so you don't take 30 seconds to load every page. Two, you would need to be a fast typer, I average about 70 wpm, I think 50+ wpm would do fine. Three, you would need to be a fast thinker. So, when you go to the topic you can read it, analyze it, respond to it, in a matter of 5 minutes. Other than that, just time on your hands. But why would you really want to? Even if you pulled it off, have a good rating, all are good sized responses. You are looking at maybe 4 bucks, end of day :P

i think 110 posts is a lot and your friend must be spending a lot of time on mylot...well you have got to do other things in life which are more important and trying to make a record on discussions should not be your top priority ..i think you should enjoy it rather than take it as a challenge to make a specific amount of discussions...had said that i would say the only way to make more discussions is spend more time on mylot...also you can add a lot of interest that you can talk about...good luck

It could be like a couple of others we know who are on various forums. One of those people receives notification of every post made by buddies/friends or whatever they call them. This means he knows what is what and types up his responses in notepad before he even gets online. Then he does a cut and paste of the responses which means that he can post a lot more than most people as he doesn't have to think up answers on the hop.
Another person we know from another forum has multiple personalities .... but when questioned said they never said it was them all the time. By implication and the wording of the discussion it does appear to be that person. Although there was nothing definate said, but the story always changes but what it means is that they get heaps of replies to these types of discussions and so make a lot more money than most people. Breaking the rules "no" but borderline and nothing anyone can do about it.
The forums like people who generate lots of responses because it means they get more money in from adverts from that person which is often why the forum admin take no action against these people. We don't answer to any of their discussions because why give advice to someone who only raises the discussion for the money that it will get them.
No way do we get anywhere near that amount of posts a day and have always put that down to having a dial-up connection.

Yes, dial-up will slow things down and thats where your weakness lies. I have a DSL modem and I found I can do between 75 and 100 posts a day. However, I suffer from carpel tunnel syndrome so I have to pace myself and keep to around 40m posts a day or I wont make money.
Remember your discussions and answers have to have at least 4 lines to it for MYlot to accept and give you credit. Avoid one to 4 word sentences or one word descriptions when you make discussions.
Good luck!

MsTickle, I believe that your friend is also a friend of mine. I know he joined mylot and had 2000 posts within a week or so. Very hard worker. From what I can tell, he does spend a lot of time here, because as you said, his discussions and responses are always very well thought out and usually long and detailed. He also has lots of responses to people who have answered his posts. He is also in one of the Far Eastern countries, Singapore maybe? and from what I understand about prices there, he's making a decent income from his work here. If the time that someone spends here is paying off for them like it is for him, you could make a decent income from it. However, for people like me in the States, I can do very little with the $10 minimum I earn each month.
Good topic! :)

You hit the spot. I was wondering if anyone would guess who. I find it amusing that he hasnot responded to this...he usually does put some sort of response on my posts. Curious.
Your point about his comments on nearly all his responses was spot on too. How on earth can he be doing this. I wish he would tell us. I'm on line about 12 hours a day but I do other things as well. My highest number of posts is 29. LOL.
Congratulations on BR. :)

Wow, every day? Thats incredible!
I spent an extraordinary time one weekend posting and I managed 105 posts. To do that cost me - my eyes stung and my body was aching for a good two days from being sat in the same position for so long.
I usually average around 50 - 60 posts a day and that can take some doing sometimes. it depends on what discussions are available to respond to.
I usually respond far more than I start discussions because I find it's easier for me to come up with an answer rather than start something myself lol.
I do have a thought that maybe you could upgrade your dial up to high speed if you want to try and get in more posts. I know a lot of people have complained that Mylot is slow on dial up.

That's awesome. I been a member for a week now but only manage to post at least 4 a day. Your friend might have some help to post that many per day. It's just hard enough to think and type what you want to say. So good for your friend.
